The House just passed a Continuing Joint Resolution that funds the entire Federal government for a year, including all the Democrats' pet projects and funds, even an odd payment of $170K to the widow of former Senator Frank Lautenberg (D-NJ). The vote was mostly along party lines, with a finaly tally of 230-189.
Since the American people voted to put more Republican Representatives into the House than big-government Democrats, the 2012 election produced a Continuing Resolution funding the entire government and all its perks, except for a few new ones such as Obamacare, which is not mentioned in the Resolution.
The passage of the bill leave open the possibility for Representatives to put together a separate bill funding Obamacare on its own. Current progress on such a separate bill by House Democrats, is not known.
With the major compromises offered in the newly-passed bill by Republicans, funding many projects they had previously opposed, it now remains to be seen whether the Democrat-controlled Senate will be in an equally compromising mood. WIll they vote to fund most of the Democrats' pet projects as the Republicans have done? Or will they decide to shut down the government anyway, despite Republican's compromising on so much, because the Democrats did not get EVERY single item they wanted?
House passes spending bill to defund Obamacare - Washington Times
if the house republicans want to pass a bill defunding obama care, they should written a separate bill defunding obama care ... by the republicans adding it to the debt ceiling is the cowards way of trying to force the defunding on you ... as we know and have seen by these republicans they're a bunch of cowards afraid to stand on their own two feet
Hilarious. Massachusetts was going bankrupt because people were using the emergency room as their primary source of health care. So under Mitt Romney, the Heritage Foundation health care plan was passed into law. Obama took that plan and made it the basis of Obamacare thinking Republicans would vote for their own idea.
Republicans just voted to cut 4 million from food stamps, 85% of which are children, veterans with disabilities and seniors. They held millions of unemployed hostage to pass tax cuts for millionaires, they not only apologized to BP but blocked Obama from investigation of the greatest man made disaster in US history.
And so Republicans are going to care about regular Americans getting health care? Who believes that. It must be "satire". Even USMB Republicans laugh at the idea of Republicans helping average Americans get health care, right?
once again, rdean is confused with a state vs the federal government and obamacare is not romneycare by any stretch of the imagination
Oh really? You can prove that? With facts you can link to? Not opinions. Not the rantings of others of your "kind".

it is YOU who has the burden of proof - you stated it is romneycare - PROVE IT
"Barack Obama's health care bill is nothing new. Mitt Romney signed one just like it four years before."
The Senate-passed health care bill "is identical to the Massachusetts health care plan -- the same thing."
RomneyCare & ObamaCare: Can you tell the difference?
Republicans on this board are always pointing to "PolitFact". Unless they don't like the answer.

What's the point of democratic government if the losers get to overturn the decisions of the winners on a whim?
what's next?
will they next year add a provision to the Continuing Resolution that kills Social Security, Medicaid, the EPA?
is this how the GOP does things now?
can't get enough votes to kill a program, so they hold the nation's funding hostage?
No they haven't, they have voted to shut down a government program; and expect the Democrats to just give in to all their demands. The only failure is the one that Republicans pushed themselves, and in 2014 the tea party is going down.A failed post if ever I witnessed one.Well the Republicans can vote against Obama and the Democratic party all they like, but Obamacare is here to stay. If the Republicans shut down the government just because they hate Obamacare then the Republicans will lose the House; not sure what Republicans think they will achieve as Obama and the Democrats won't pass austerity budgets and send the US back into recession.
The Republicans have already voted to keep government open. Its a historic fact as of right now.
The Republicans are killing the USA.

If something is wrong with obamacare...Why not fix it? Do what's best for the American people.
Adding poison pills to otherwise wanted bills is a time-honored tactic up on Capitol Hill. Both sides do it, so don't make it sound like it's just the Republicans and there is no precedent for this.

i would like to see the law changed where each big issue item is voted on separately...

What's the point of democratic government if the losers get to overturn the decisions of the winners on a whim?
so the patriot act should always remain in force?
the dems didn't try to put in a poison pill in the bill ... which will cause the bill to be defeated in the senate now did they ... by doing so its killing the USA ...The Republicans are killing the USA.
Get it right. Both parties are killing the USA.
