(CNN) – A bill that provides back pay for furloughed Federal workers during the government shutdown unanimously passed the House during a rare Saturday session on Capitol Hill.

Some 800,000 federal workers have been stuck at home without pay since October 1 when Congress failed to pass a budget for the new fiscal year.

On Friday, the White House said the president would sign the measure.

Oh my achin' head.

Obabble will sign that, but he won't sign the measures to keep parks open and to pay veterans.

Hopenchange!

They should be paying every one that works. Work = get paid.

Why are federal workers special? Why should they expect to get paid for not working? This is bullshit.

im a little torn on this issue.

its not their fault they were furloughed, but still...paying people for work they didn't do is kinda not fair to the rest of us.

Well congressmen are still getting paid despite, even worse than just not working, costing millions to the economies of their constituents

Is it true that Obama sent more security to police Veteran protesting
the closure of the WWII memorial
than he dispatched to respond to Benghazi?

???

Who knows. But the Republican Senate reduced the security budget for embassy's by $270M.

What? 40 plus votes going after Obamacare, but not one making Congress equal to federal workers?

Oh my achin' head.

Oh, what a difference a day makes....:lmao:

The Associated Press contributed to this report.

The Pentagon on Sunday called back to work most of its roughly 400,000 civilian employees, based on administration lawyers’ legal interpretation of the recent government slimdown.

The order was given by Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel, five days after roughly 800,000 federal workers were sent home after Congress failed to reach a deal to fund the government.

Hagel said the decision to recall the workers is based on a Pentagon legal interpretation of a law called the Pay Our Military Act.

The measure was passed by Congress and signed by President Obama shortly before the slimdown began.

Congress:

Job #1 - Fund what they and their predecessors have already put on the government plate.

Job #2 - Discuss the plate.

It's time the Republicans stop trying to put the cart before the horse.

The reduced security is not an excuse for what they did. The Americans at Benghazi should have been ordered to leave if they couldn't be secure. And I'm sure in an emergency they could have given them more security....but they wouldn't do that because then they couldn't blame the Republicans.

And in Bush's "13 Benghazi's"...was his administration told ahead of time of the threats? Were they asked for more security and ignored it? Did Bush make any excuses and lie about it for weeks after, even knowing what it was from the beginning? It's not the fact that Benghazi happened, it was what happened before and after it. I don't remember Bush lying out his ass like Obama and Clinton did.

No, it's not their fault. But neither is it anyone's fault if they get "laid off" from their job. These people are laid off because they can't be paid, so let them draw unemployment like anyone else has to. So now they'll get paid for sitting home on their asses....nice! I do know of some government workers that are still having to work, but their pay is delayed. They deserve the pay....people sitting home don't.

They still don't get paid until a budget is passed. Which means they could be working for months without pay.
