Star Trek Discovery and The Orville as The Expanse has shown TV execs that sci fi on TV is not dead.

How would you feel if they made a TV show about a badass American military spaceship commander who has a badass crew who fights badguys and does badass things in space with his cool spaceship and loyal crew that became very successful with American TV viewers?

How would Americans feel if there was a episode where a great evil that threatens to destroy all life in the galaxy opens a portal where they will enter right next to a planet that contains 300,000 inhabitants that are part of an alien civilization that practices slavery and is a combination of North Korea and Saudi Arabia. The space military sends our brave heroic space commander on a secret mission to destroy this portal. The commander succeeds in destroying the portal but its destruction causes an explosion that destroys the solar system next to it, the same solar system containing the 300,000 space Norks.

How would sci fi fans feel? How would Americans feel? How would liberals feel?

Is the space commander a savior of the galaxy or war criminal?
