I grew up in an Irish meat and potato family. My father used a slur to describe rice in the rare times that my mother served it. Today it's my favorite dish which might tell you that you can go home again but you might not want to.When I was a kid we lived in Louisiana and I attended 1st grade there.
Louisiana is the #1 rice growing state.
So every day at lunch we were served rice with a pat of butter on top and a side of green beans or corn niblets. Every day, every day.
