How President Bush was almost captured…..and eaten

I really dont care what you think. As for the rescue what happened was stated in this thread, perhaps you can explain how the pilots in the fighter and rescue planes knew who was who in the water?
You never even heard of this island until you opened this thread.

Do you know what type of plane Bush was flying?
Do you know his navigator did not get out alive?

Have you read a single book that discussed this island? This island was of actual little consequence and is only discussed because of the macabre outcome and the fact that Bush was shot down and plucked from the waters by a submarine, one that did not have orders from above to pluck a flier from the ocean. Many have never heard of it, and you hadn't until you stumbled in here.

wrong I have read about Bush before I read all the interesting blurbs that appear on the internet about military and presidents.
Read an actual book that discusses this island, and Bush being "mircaculously" rescued from the water, it happened after Bush had plenty of time to issue a distress call and his higher ups ordered a submarine to pluck him from the waters.

The other pilots? Well, the brass had never heard of them before.

Sorties Into Hell: The Hidden War On Chichi Jima

The tragic and heartbreaking story of how a dozen captured American pilots were tortured, mutilated, murdered, andin some caseseaten by officers in the Imperial Japanese Army in Chichi Jima . . . A remarkable read with important information.
--Marine Corps Gazette

Throughout the Pacific War, the Japanese frequently killed captured American flyers, and cannibalism was also not uncommon. But the Chichi Jima atrocities and their subsequent investigation were properly unique and have not previously been so fully described in published works. --Military History

retard they didn't have radios outside their aircraft ones, and it was standard practice to have a submarine on rescue patrol for any major attack. again, explain how the fighters knew who was in each position in the water and how the sub knew it was Bush?

That looks like a good one, the first time I heard of Chichi Jima that discussed favoritism (even broached the subject) was in this book. I had heard about the murdered avaitors but no one touched on Bush's rescue outside of the obvious, Bradley makes mention of it in his very readable book.

You know so little about communications, the U.S. Navy, and their fighter pilots.

Not surprised. You don't seem to know much about anything.

It is possible this was a "lucky" rescue, but someone likely was keeping an eye on this particular pilot.

LOL sure thing retard.

It seems Bush did not learn the details of what happened until 2005 after he had been President.
He knew the others had died in captivity but not specifics.

These men were in Bush’s squadron and he probably knew each of them well.

If someone was keeping an eye on the Senators son, they would not have allowed him on such a dangerous mission

Joseph Kennedy was a former US Ambassador to England.

His son Joe Jr was allowed to go on a suicide mission and was killed
His son John was allowed to command a PT Boat that was very dangerous

Teddy Roosevelts son Teddy Jr commanded part of the landing on D Day and was one of the first ashore.

Sure it did, Pat Robertson was the son of a Senator.

There is no indication that Bush was trying to avoid "dangerous duty" or did anything wrong, but certain people have always been "looked after", the mlitary is not an exception.

The bombing raid on ChiChi Jima was extremely dangerous. It had extensive AA protection and many pilots had lost their lives on that mission.

Any pilot who was being “looked after” would not be given that mission.

Bush was hit by AA and was on fire. He still continued his dive and dropped his bombs on target. He was fighting to fly the aircraft and could not have called for help.

The plane that eventually saved him from being picked up and the submarine were on rescue mission for downed pilots.

No way could they tell who was in the water

It absolutely could have been a lucky break for Bush, and it might have been someone radioing this submarine to find his location, no one will ever know.

These pilots were not given "easy" missions because the missions were not easy, none of them, they were all dangerous, he was not given preferential treatment because no naval aviators were, at least that are known.

Pat Robertson is the most egregious example of preferential treatment that I know of.

If you wanted preferential treatment and had connections, you could get it.

Famous athletes and movie stars got basically USO tours entertaining the troops.

Glenn Miller was put in charge of a band but was still killed in an air crash

And 8 other pilots were left to be captured.
They were closer inshore and more easily captured. In war crap happens, Bush got lucky and made the right decision to delay bailing out as long as possible.

The sub was stationed there to pick up downed aviators. It was not "ordered" there to pick up a specific plot. Stationing "lifeguard" submarines was a standard practice in the Pacific during airstrikes.

I'm sure you believe that Admiral Mitscher of Task Force 58's decision to turn on all the lights, searchlights and have the escorts fire star shells after dark in the Marianas Turkey Shoot was because some of the pilots were the sons of important men as well.

Be fair, Joe Jr. wasn't on a suicide mission. His job was to take the Aphrodite Drone (a war-weary B-17 loaded with explosives and remotely controlled) off and then bail out. For some reason the drone blew up in flight killing him.
