I was speaking to my insurance agent the other day about the rising cost of home insurance.

Home and car insurance being things that have contributed to inflation over the last few years. He explained the reason had multiple components. One was the rising cost of labor for those doing the repair work. One was the technology in cars making them enormously expensive to fix. And one was this.........

The increase in weather related events doing damage to cars and homes. Not that hailstorms are unusual here in CO during the summer. But nationally the frequency of weather related damage to property is increasing as the climate becomes more unstable due to man made climate change. A trend Dem's are trying to do something about. Repub's, not so much.

How can you tell if a hailstorm is natural or man-made climate change?
Does it send an email? Memo?

Brace yourself.
Home insurance rates are expected, on average, to increase 6 percent in 2024 but could jump as high as 23 percent in states with severe weather, according to a home insurance projection report from Insurify.

LoL globull warming!!!

Not sure but probably by comparing historical averages of weather events and the correlation between their frequency/strength and rising global temperatures.
and that show no real change in recorded history which is only about 150 years' worth. The reason more damage is occurring is not because of increased storms but increased manmade structures in storm's path.

hardly a political topic but home insurance is mandatory as long as you have a mortgage. You can shop around for a better rate but you are stuck with it.

ILMAO at your man-made climate change. "We must save Earth from itself Democracks, make the problem worse, but at least folks are getting rich over our tardation, and Democracks are more tarded because of it, vote blue".

Here's a result of your stupid. Do you realize what this does for ground water and air? Course not.

Insurance is like a socialist scam - when people in Montana have a disaster, people in Connecticut's insurance rates go up.

It's socialism with a fat cat middleman.

We should just socialize insurance and cut out the fat cat middleman, or we should just make insurance illegal and let the free market take its course.

You'd see the cost of medical treatment drop like a rock - along with people's life expectancy.

But hey, we'd have a true free market!

The insurance company paid nowhere near the amount of damages for Hurricanes Matthew and Ian. Both storms did over $10,000 in damages and the insurance company only paid several hundred dollars BOTH times.

you made the first claim show a chart of all the recorded storms and the level of population over those years and then compare them to the reality that more people not bigger storms caused the damage.
I offered my best guess on how it is done.

That is why my post started with I'm not sure.

Oh thank you thank you thank you. This is categorically and absolutely true.
