in helping local producers and writers enter festivals like Cannes or Sundance,
or host their own. You can get a lot more bang for your buck by supporting indie films.
Go for it! Host a contest in your community, accept submissions and make it a festival.
That will do more to help find and produce more talent, and promote democratic
participation in media.
