Zone1 If you want to understand who Musk and Trump truly are, this is the thread.

It was $60 million into billions.
Even you could manage that with a starting point of $60 million and Fred's reputation to help.

So not exactly the feat he claims it to be.

Skill, hard work, connections, knowledge earned/learned, and luck? Good luck and timing have played a role?

Hmm...
:stir:
I learned many trades over the years and started young, I never finished high school or college, but did graduate in two MOS schools in the army (electronics and electrical maintenance)and used them along with my trade as a mason to earn a lot of dough, plus I have always been in management positions since I was twenty-five.
My old man was a stockbroker but I did not care much for that trade or wearing a tie and a suit. I wanted to go to law school but didn't have the dough or the desire to get into a lot of debt.

And he inherited nearly half a billion as well.
Oh more than that through the years. See how trusts work, and how Donald manipulated family members to his own benefit. Any malfeasance would be overlooked because Donald would game the legal system and more. He has that history and what he did to family members with ailing and sick children is despicable at best.

It's all a public record: note Meister, you asked for links

Even when it comes to a sick baby in his family, Donald Trump is all business. The megabuilder and his siblings Robert and Maryanne -- The Judge (how do people believe she got her Judgeships - NY state corruption?)? -- terminated their nephew’s family medical coverage a week after he challenged the will of their father, Fred Trump. “This was so shocking, so disappointing and so vindictive,” said niece Lisa Trump, whose son, William, was born 18 months ago at Mount Sinai Medical Center with a rare neurological disorder that produces violent seizures, brain damage and medical bills topping $300,000.

You are a role model of The American Dream for many around the world who sacrifice much to come to our country..

Money changes people from being killer party buds to paranoid freaks over money.

I've seen that, but I've also worked for and have been around middle class people who became seriously wealthy. Many kept their roots upfront.

I guess if a sociopath makes some $$$ it is not the wealth that corrupts their minds. A sociopathic mind needs no corrupting

I have met several of those people in the last fifty years, I commended them for their determination and strength. I came from a German family that were sodbusters and cotton pickers in Texas in the 1890's and Okiehoma in the 1920s those were my grandparents. My family has a long tradition of being veterans and hard-working folks who are the salt of the Earth. I gave that same equality to my kids and taught them trades at a young age, we also grow our own food.

I never changed, hell people still think I am an unkept brute.

These type of attacks against TRUMP and Musk don't work mainly because no one can deny both work non-stop, they're willing to take risks, think outside the box, and get things done.
That is absolutely delusional. As documented, had Trump merely invested his inheritance into an index fund he would be worth more money than he is today. Not surprising really. Multiple bankruptcies, resulting in the shafting of countless investors. Refusing to pay contractors, litigating in court simply to run out the clock.

I really don't think most posters here have any experience with people as wealthy as Trump and Musk. Generational wealth saps the strength of the economy. Warren Buffet, Carnegie, they both intuitively knew this. Trump, the Koch's, they were not raised right.

These people live for their wealth and no I have never hung out with filthy rich assholes and I doubt I would want to.

“To whom much is given, much is required”

I see people seem to have been triggered by mere mentions of Trump and wealth. What I don;t see here in this thread is some defense of the Musks and their...

It's as if Musk will eventually be a fall guy when the blame game begins.

I guess I am just not resentful enough.

Silly me, ofI judge both men on what they do and the sorts of things for which they stand

What people do things, why they do things, how they do things, when they choose to do things are not ideas and such to look into.

And can we trust them?

"Can people trust, fully trust a convicted felon?"

No, the above is saying something.
S&P what? A mutual fund?? That would all depend on which stocks in the S&P 500.
You do understand that not all the stocks in the S&P 500 make money....or do you?
He invested in property and became a multi billionaire instead.
