More than 100 million people could die immediately if India and Pakistan wage a nuclear war, followed by global mass starvation, according to a Rutgers coauthored study.

“Such a war would threaten not only the locations where bombs might be targeted but the entire world,” said Alan Robock, a Distinguished Professor in the Department of Environmental Sciences at Rutgers University–New Brunswick.

The research found that fires ignited by exploding nuclear weapons could release 16 million to 36 million tons of soot (black carbon) in smoke that would rise into the upper atmosphere, spreading around the world within weeks.

Actually, no. They didn't "found" it. Its just their assumption. And those assumptions looks like wrong.

The soot would absorb solar radiation, heating the air and boosting the smoke’s swift rise. Sunlight reaching Earth would decline by 20 to 35 percent, cooling the surface by 3.6 to 9 degrees Fahrenheit (2 to 5 degrees Celsius) and reducing precipitation by 15 to 30 percent, with larger regional impacts.

Vegetation growth would decline by 15 to 30 percent on land and ocean productivity would decline by 5 to 15 percent. Recovery from all these impacts would take more than 10 years because the smoke would linger in the upper atmosphere.

Just fairy tales.
But yes, political and economic impacts will be quite serious anyway.

1. Nuclear war is mostly exchange of nuclear bursts in the cities. It's lie. Both India and Pakistan prefer to save their citizens to murder civilians of the adversary. Therefore the first strike is counter-force in the both side strategies.
2. Nuclear bursts in the cities will cause massive fires. It's lie. For most air conditions and yields of nukes, radius of demolition is larger than the radius of wood ignition. There will be no "city fires" (as there were in Hiroshima). There will be "soldering in debris".
3. Numerous city fires unite in a super-firestorm. It's lie. In the modern cities with their concrete buildings and wide streets small fires doesn't really spread and unite. Small towns don't have enough of organic to cause a firestorm.
4. Super-firestorm burn all organic in ash and send it stratosphere. Its lie. Super-firestorms means high temperature and it means that all organic is burning to CO_2 and H_2O. No ash, no sooth.
5. Sooth cause decreasing of temperature. Its lie. The guys simply ignore greenhouse effects of CO_2 and water vapour. It might even cause "global warming".

Pakistan denies it was behind Tuesday’s attack by gunmen on a group of tourists in Kashmir. Both sides have since escalated the tensions by exchanging diplomatic and trade sanctions against each other and raising fears of a military conflict.
Here are five reasons why a flare-up between India and Pakistan.

In response to the massacre, India suspended a crucial treaty that governs the flow of river waters into Pakistan. Pakistan said it would consider any attempt to stop the flow of water from India an “act of war.”​

Under the Indus Water treaty, India is obliged to let six rivers flow freely to Pakistan. If India follows through and restricts the flow, it can have a devastating impact on Pakistan’s agriculture as it battles acute water shortages.​
