Well, I am far from an expert in this field and have never studied this question thoroughly. What I know is that there are two opposing versions of the incident. Who knows, maybe we will find out for sure what happened there some time.It wasnt cute to attack a ship of your ally, either.Does anyone remember the USS Liberty incident? The US thought it would be cute to spy on their ally and paid the price
I remember my days---active duty in the NAVY----
fatal mistakes were rampant----even in peacetime--and not in an arena of war
the recordings have been beaten to death. I will say this---the NAVY OFFICER who claimed that the attack
was purposeful-------should be---according to how I understand military law----IN JAIL----but then----there were lots of my fellow officers who divulged "information" and opinions ILLEGALLY
Before the attack on the USS Liberty the Israeli planes made a couple hours of pass overs.. It was a clear day and the large US flag was plainly visible. Plus, the Liberty was too large to be mistaken for an Egyptian horse transport. Were you in the ME during the 6 day war?
