It is no accident that the Jewish nation-state bill was introduced only after the right-wing government succeeded in (almost) completely killing the two-state solution. Now that it is obvious that there will not be two states, they must start worrying about the character of the one state, which is already in the formative stages. They must make sure, at any price, that it will not be democratic and egalitarian.

And what do we have that is more effective and vital than a Jewish nation-state law? This is how the last excuse of the apartheid-deniers, who claim that unlike in South Africa there are no racial (or national) laws here, will fall. The Jewish nation-state law will shape the character of the one state according to its spirit – the spirit of apartheid. The law will ensure what the right wing has always been saying: that this country has room for two peoples, one superior and one inferior. One with all rights, and one with none. From now on, under the protection of the law, according to which everything is done. First in sovereign, occupying Israel, and soon in the annexing and colonialist one, too.
And now apartheid is being sneaked into Israel s very foundations - Intifada Palestine

Hardly what you could call an unbiased source
If you bothered to read the Linked article you might notice at the bottom, Source: Haaretz

As I said hardly an unbiased source is it

....
Would that be the same Nick Griffin that spoke out against ISLAMONAZI TERRORISM when 11 and 12 year old girls were being raped and prostituted by muslims. The same Nick Griffin that went to Syria to see exactly what was going on, and came back with a report of how the insurgents were the ones mass murdering innocents and the UN and NATO should not bomb the government forces.

And by the way he does not deny the holocaust he questions certain aspects of it that led to the state murder of innocent men and women after being convicted on no evidence at all.

Well thanks for confirming that you have a hardon for Nick - struggling-for-relevance-and-a-seat-on-the-EU-gravy-train - Griffin. He is hoping to champion Islamiphobia, and finds himself strangely allied to his other object of hate: But at least Israelis are Europeans, eh?

Griffin is the failed leader of a failed quazi-fascist party which has fallen foul of so many court cases it is all but shut. Most of its aficionados live off the dole, with a bit of fencing stolen goods and drug dealing on the side. Which are you?

As to his attempt to modernise: I expect he was hoping for some of that Hasbara money that the EDL somehow accessed. As to "questioning parts of the Holocaust" his biggest question was: "Why didn't they complete the job?"

I suppose you are here with your race hatred wondering why it was your hatred was not as successful as Israeli fascism? Suck it up lardy, and open another pack of Bombay flavoured crisps.

Wrong again as I don't like seeing lies posted, and the BNP were found not guilty of being racist weren't they, just as Nick Griffin was. You can of course produce evidence of your libellous claims that BNP members are all unemployed fencing stolen goods. Many happen to be working or retired and see the BNP as the only solution until UKIP came along. The majority of British people are sick of immigrants and want an end to the problems they cause, they also want a stop bringing to Islamic terrorism and violence in this country. Your abuse does not work anymore because I have had 10 years of it from better people than you, and at least the BNP does not rape children unlike your muslims and neo Marxists that you defend.

Hmmm.
You are on to a loser on this one Phoney.
If you think an organisation can have someone like this creating policy and NOT be racist, then you must have taken up residence in Cloud Cuckoo Land. Do they have lax border control there too then?

"1. Nick Griffin is a convicted racist who said Hitler 'went a bit too far'

The man who will achieve a first for the extreme right-wing in Britain by taking his place on the BBC's flagship debating programme tomorrow is a convicted racist who once said that Hitler "went a bit too far" and fraternised with the former leader of the Ku Klux Klan.

Since attending his first National Front meeting at the age of 15, the privately educated leader of the British National Party has been imbued with the doctrine and practice of the far right from an early age. He read 'Mein Kampf' when he was 13.

The 50-year-old father-of-four has been assiduous in recent years to distance his party from the thuggish, neo-fascist image of the extreme right. But his insistence that neither he nor his party are racist sits uneasily with his past. In 1998, he was convicted of inciting racial hatred for articles that denied the Holocaust and given a suspended nine-month prison term. While in the witness box, he said: "I am well aware that the orthodox opinion is that six million Jews were gassed and cremated and turned into lampshades. Orthodox opinion also once held that the world is flat." "

English translation of Megilat Ha'atzmaut - Charter for decalaration of Israel
Declaration of Israeli Independence

Issued at Tel Aviv on May 14, 1948 (5th of lyar, 5708)

(1)The Land of Israel was the birthplace of the Jewish people. Here their spiritual, religious and national identity was formed. Here they achieved independence and created a culture of national and universal significance. Here they wrote and gave the Bible to the world.

(2)Exiled from Palestine, the Jewish people remained faithful to it in all the countries of their dispersion, never ceasing to pray and hope for their return and the restoration of their national freedom.

(3)Impelled by this historic association, Jews strove throughout the centuries to go back to the land of their fathers and regain their statehood. In recent decades they returned in masses. They reclaimed the wilderness, revived their language, built cities and villages and established a vigorous and ever-growing community, with its own economic and cultural life. They sought peace yet were ever prepared to defend themselves. They brought the blessing of progress to all inhabitants of the country.

(4)In the year 1897 the First Zionist Congress, inspired by Theodor Herzls vision of the Jewish State, proclaimed the right of the Jewish people to national revival in their own country.

(5)This right was acknowledged by the Balfour Declaration of November 2, 1917, and re-affirmed by the Mandate of the League of Nations, which gave explicit international recognition to the historic connection of the Jewish people with Palestine and their right to reconstitute their National Home.

(6)The Nazi holocaust, which engulfed millions of Jews in Europe, proved anew the urgency of the reestablishment of the Jewish State, which would solve the problem of Jewish homelessness by opening the gates to all Jews and lifting the Jewish people to equality in the family of nations.

(7)The survivors of the European catastrophe, as well as Jews from other lands, proclaiming their right to a life of dignity, freedom and labor, and undeterred by hazards, hardships and obstacles, have tried unceasingly to enter Palestine.

(8)In the Second World War the Jewish people in Palestine made a full contribution in the struggle of the freedom-loving nations against the Nazi evil. The sacrifices of their soldiers and the efforts of their workers gained them title to rank with the peoples who founded the United Nations.

(9)On November 29,1947, the General Assembly of the United Nations adopted a Resolution for the establishment of an independent Jewish State in Palestine, and called upon the inhabitants of the country to take such steps as may be necessary on their part to put the plan into effect.

(10)This recognition by the United Nations of the right of the Jewish people to establish their independent State may not be revoked. It is, moreover, the self-evident right of the Jewish people to be a nation, as all other nations, in its own sovereign State.

(11)ACCORDINGLY, WE the members of the National Council, representing the Jewish people in Palestine and the Zionist movement of the world, met together in solemn assembly today, the day of termination of the British mandate for Palestine, by virtue of the natural and historic right of the Jewish people and of the Resolution of the General Assembly of the United Nations,

(12)HEREBY PROCLAIM the establishment of the Jewish State in Palestine, to be called ISRAEL.

(13)WE HEREBY DECLARE that as from the termination of the Mandate at midnight, this night of the 14th to 15th May, 1948, and until the setting up of the duly elected bodies of a Constituent Assembly not later than the first day of October, 1948, the present National Council shall act as the provisional administration, shall constitute the Provisional Government of the State of Israel.

(14)THE STATE OF ISRAEL will be open to the immigration of Jews from all countries of their dispersion; will promote the development of the country for the benefit of all its inhabitants; will be based on the precepts of liberty, justice and peace taught by the Hebrew Prophets; will uphold the full social and political equality of all its citizens, without distinction of race, creed or sex; will guarantee full freedom of conscience, worship, education and culture; will safeguard the sanctity and inviolability of the shrines andHoly Places of all religions; and will dedicate itself to the principles of the Charter of the United Nations.

(15)THE STATE OF ISRAEL will be ready to cooperate with the organs and representatives of the United Nations in the implementation of the Resolution of the Assembly of November 29, 1947, and will take steps to bring about the Economic Union over the whole of Palestine.

(16)We appeal to the United Nations to assist the Jewish people in the building of its State and to admit Israel into the family of nations.

(17)In the midst of wanton aggression, we yet call upon the Arab inhabitants of the State of Israel to return to the ways of peace and play their part in the development of the State, with full and equal citizenship and due representation in all its bodies and institutions provisional or permanent.

(18)We offer peace and unity to all the neighboring states and their peoples, and invite them to cooperate with the independent Jewish nation for the common good of all.

(19)Our call goes out to the Jewish people all over theworld to rally to our side in the task of immigration and development and to stand by us in the great struggle for the fulfillment of the dream of generations the redemption of Israel.

What is wrong with the law is that it places one religion above others in terms of rights and source of law.

Most western countries are christian nations even if they did not have a state religion. Their laws are based on christian laws as ideas. They acknowledge one god or deity without demanding how or if we actually pray to that deity (he/she/it).
Israel is stating that their country is the homeland spiritually of the jews, but every other religion is permitted. The history, laws and culture that allows others to practice free is based on Judeo beliefs. No religion has the right to deny the jews their history or religion or try to wipe them off the face of the earth or from the country.
There are christian, muslim, buddhist and hindu nations, so why should there not be one nation where jews are protected from religion persecution?
From the beginning Israel was to be a jewish state. The wording of this law is just ensuring the protection of the state on all jews. It is not changing anything just ensuring that the jewish nature of the country is not denied.

Ah a straight answer! but I'll have to ask you to be more specific - here some points I would like you to relate.
1.How is one religion placed above others - when all religions enjoy this law? (What's been revoked from other religions in terms of rights?)
2.This is a basic law intended to bound the core identity of the state as established in 1947 - for the right of self determination, something the Palestinians revoked from the Israelis in the past and present - Your opinion about this one - why doesn't Israelis have the right for self determination?(obviously you're against this law)
3.What possible solution can ever be made with the Palestinians, realizing the situation - I mean lets be realistic for once - what solution do you actually believe can serve both sides, Israelis and Palestinians - your opinion about this one in relation to this law.

Those expulsions happened AFTER Israel declared independence and AFTER 5 Arab states invaded and treid to destroy Israel, with the help of Palestinian militias.
Need I remind you that during this war, PAlestinians and other Arab states were trying to expel Israelis??

Toastie, actually over 50% of Palestinians were killed and forced out of Palestine prior to Israel's Independence and the War with the other Arab States except Transjordan.....the rest were after 1948 by the various Jewish Terrorist Groups....I know you know this but I know how passionate you are for your cause, saying that it should never impede the facts.

The Arab League(for use of a better word) were not trying to expel the Jews but drive you out all together but their military campaign sic was pathetic to say the best.........they had no-show against the hardened military might of Israel.

But they as you say...were not just expulsions but the systematic elimination of the Palestinians......No need to Sugar Coat the Reality.

Toastie, can you explain to me something.....after trying so hard to eliminate the Palestinian Nation and it's people....Why did the Jews retain so many Palestinians within Israel.......after 1948 because I do know that the Nutter Jews wanted a Jewish Only State then as some of these Morons do today..steve

You don't know much about western countries. Western nations do not acknowledge one god or deity. They acknowledge no god. It is up to the individual. No western country, especially an EU state, can make a law that "ensures the christian nature" of that state. In fact, in the US, public entities cannot display Christian symbols. Jews (ADL) were the most adamant for preventing Christian celebration of Christmas in the public sphere.
