As seen on Happening Now

Intel CEO Brian Krzanich met with President Donald Trump today, announcing a $7 billion investment in an Arizona semiconductor factory.

Krzanich said that the Chandler facility, named Fab 42, would employ about 3,000 people at its peak in "high-tech, high-wage jobs."

Sorry to burst your bubble:

“This would have happened anyway. This was always part of their plan,” said Jim McGregor, an analyst at Tirias Research in Phoenix. “But obviously the current administration and Intel are going to try to get some political gain out of it.”

McGregor said the announcement was a positive sign for Intel, but not a significant change in strategy or policy. He described Intel and other chipmakers as having a rotation cycle, in which they periodically update, build and shutter facilities.

The unanswered question in Trump’s announcement of a $7 billion Intel investment

I'm curious how he's a better expert on Intel than Intel is?

Yeah ... ignore that part where the Intel CEO said that while they had planned this for several years, it had been tabled until Trump's proposed tax and regulation relief re-energized the program. You're starting to see stored money come out to play. Once repatriation is feasible, then the economy really takes off.

Just imagine if Obama was a pro business and cared so much about jobs and the middle class as Trump?

Hillary Clinton would of have been president today

Stop shipping jobs to Communist Canada and other socialist states and build American again! I always preferred Intel chips to others, even though it was slightly more expensive. I'd rather support something made in the USA than some Communist rathole.

And couldn't do it with an anti business president.

.

That's exactly right ... nothing has changed except the pro-business political environment.

It isn't rocket science. You don't get big by being idiots and a more favorable business climate will spur growth. Business wants to grow, people want what they sell, we can use the jobs and all that brings ....so why does government like to get in the way?

Governor Jan Brewer and Intel Announce Massive Expansion in Arizona

Multi-Billion-Dollar Investment to Generate Significant Number of New Jobs for Arizonans

PHOENIX, AZ (October 19, 2010) – Arizona Governor Jan Brewer joined executives from Intel Corporation today to announce the company’s plans to invest between $6 billion – $8 billion in manufacturing to support future technology advancements in its American facilities – including Intel’s factory site in Chandler. The investment will support the creation of 6,000 to 8,000 construction jobs and 800 to 1,000 new permanent high-tech jobs in the United States, a significant portion coming to Arizona.

“For thirty years Intel has contributed significantly to Arizona’s economic prosperity, through its break-through technologies and creation of high-paying jobs which generate stability and economic activity,” stated Governor Brewer. “Today’s announcement further demonstrates that Arizona is competitive when our policies create an environment which supports innovation, rewards investment, minimizes government intervention and encourages productivity. Arizona is competing, and we are witnessing the benefits.”

Intel’s investment will fund deployment of its next-generation 22-nanometer manufacturing (nm) process across several existing U.S. factories, including Intel’s factory site in Chandler. Intel’s next-generation, 22nm microprocessor will enable sleeker device designs, higher performance and longer battery life at lower costs.

How convenient that a Google search, using an article that actually disproves your point, is used to try to validate a spurious objection.

Why did they wait until now?

You mean the corps will pay lower taxes or none at all, and be able to pollute. Yes sure, but this has been in the works for years. A good company will not pollute even if they can.

The very companies that DIDN'T want Trump are now caving into him.

You're avoiding the question.

Quit trying to make up some doomsday scenario, and come back to reality.

And waited for a more better political environment... You will see a shit load of expansion plans on hold for years come to fruit...

This is called shovel ready jobs.

Its been in the plans for years, nothing new here, it would of happened with or without Trump.

No --- apparently not. The Intel chief made it very clear that it was the new administration that caused them to pull it out of mothballs.

They announced it in 2010. Why was there a 7 year delay?

Trump is charting the direction that American companies will prosper in. Lower taxes, much lower regulations (Trump himself suggested that some industries pay the equivalent of over $9k per employee for regulations! That's Canadian territory!), a commitment to "America First". Businesses want to invest in American jobs and also get the limelight for doing so, which is what Trumps press conference accomplished today.

There are massive advantages to staying in America now. If for instance, Intel went to Canada, they would be a private company in name only. The RCMP and other Canadian government agencies consider it a "Crown Corporation" when on Canadian soil. They can covertly enter this business, tamper with HR and executive positions without Intel leadership even knowing. Any advantages to moving to Ontario for instance, is minimal at best, and they aren't even aware how their HR department in Canada is rigged. America is a free market, which rewards the best and brightest and allows innovation to flourish.

I know how bad it is in Canada because I blew the whistle on this, I can just imagine how absurd it is in other countries. Intel is wise to expand in America.
