"Biggest regrets" aside, I guess the Duke was about 33. He had four kids and his marriage was in trouble and ended in 1944. He could have served but he avoided service.

Having a marriage in trouble is all the more reason NOT to volunteer. His four kids didn't just disappear after Pearl Harbor, did they?

Why is the Duke's service or lack of service so important to you? The pop-culture point is that Wayne was so skilled in portraying real heroes but he made a ton of money standing on the sidelines during WW2. Let it go Rock.
