ATLANTA (AP) — A Georgia judge on Monday struck down the state’s abortion law, which took effect in 2022 and effectively prohibited abortions beyond about six weeks of pregnancy.

Fulton County Superior Court Judge Robert McBurney wrote in his order that “liberty in Georgia includes in its meaning, in its protections, and in its bundle of rights the power of a woman to control her own body, to decide what happens to it and in it, and to reject state interference with her healthcare choices.”

When the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade in 2022 and ended a national right to abortion, it opened the door for state bans. Fourteen states now bar abortion at all stages of pregnancy, with some exceptions. Georgia was one of four where the bans kick in after about the first six weeks of pregnancy — which is often before women realize they’re pregnant.

ReNaziKlans are all about the baby before it is born, they do jack shit after it is born.

They sure don't do a thing about the leading cause of death for school children is gun violence.

They don't pay for the education the child will need.

They won't insure the child has a healthy diet, a roof its head and won't help preschool.

The kid is important it is born, after that it's on it's own

A win for the good guys.

So, then we start sterilizing irresponsible people. A solution that the dictatorship you are championing will enact when fully empowered.

Why do you think that the states that have overturned ROE won’t allow their citizens to vote on it?

States with Abortion Rights on the 2024 Ballot are as follows;

1.Arizona.

2. Colorado.

3. Florida.

4. Maryland.

5. Missouri.

6. Montana.

7. Nevada.

8. South Dakota.

9 New York also has a ballot measure that proponents say would protect abortion rights, though there’s a dispute about its impact.

Thanks for that. I’m curious why Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee, Georgia, Oklahoma, etc... and these other brick red states don’t just put it on the ballot and cement their position. It would seem to me that republicans in these states would love to have the “cover” of the public opinion on their side.

Put another way. You stand up in Austin and say, “lets outlaw abortion” without this vote, you have the other side say that you’re not representing the feelings of the people (in so many words). If you have this resolution showing a 60/40 vote in favor of outlawing abortion, they can’t come back with that credibly. It would be like the GOP saying Trump won the election. Facts prove otherwise.

If it happens, it happens. I also believe the relationship between men and women will continue to become more strained than it is now. This is what Trump promised with giving it to the states.
