At his press conference this week, President Obama tried to reassure Americans about ObamaCare. Instead, he displayed either an incredible lack of understanding about his own law, or something far worse.

Asked about increasing Democratic concern over what Sen. Max Baucus called a looming ObamaCare "train wreck," Obama claimed that it's all much ado about very little.

But almost nothing he said in defense of ObamaCare was accurate. Among his statements:

"A huge chunk of it's already been implemented."

In fact, all that's been implemented so far are a few PR-friendly changes like a mandate to cover children up to age 26 and a more generous Medicare drug benefit.

Democrats put off the bulk of the law — the massive market regulations, the government-run exchanges, mandates to buy coverage, and various taxes and fees—until 2014, both to hide its true costs and to avoid any unpleasantness before the 2012 elections.

"For the 85% to 90% of Americans who already have health insurance ... they don't have to worry about anything else."

Really? The Congressional Budget Office expects 7 million workers — and possibly as many as 20 million — will lose their employer coverage because of ObamaCare. That's plenty to worry about.

Since Obama has been saying the same things since he first tried to sell Obamacare, such as it'll reduce costs, if you like your current insurance and doctor you can keep them and that illegal aliens won't be included, I'd say he is either a chronic liar or completely ignorant of the hardships this train wreck is going to impose on us.

The younger, lower income workers will be hit hardest with high costs of insurance. Jobs have been disappearing as companies find out the high cost. Many full-time employees were reduced to part-time. It's already having an ill effect and all the new taxes and regulations coming will be devastating. Once the full effect of this hits, things are going to get really bad.

Many doctors are talking about retiring. There will be a shortage. There will be waiting lists. There will be doled out care. People over 75 are likely to be denied life saving surgeries and procedures.

Personally, I don't think Obama is ignorant about what the health care reform will accomplish. It will mean extensive government intervention in our private lives and at least 29 new taxes. Most of the law doesn't have shit to do with healthcare and everything to do with control. I think the real goal was an expanded and more powerful government and it was disguised as health care reform. It transfers power from the people to the government. Any dictator will tell you that in order to destroy a country so you can rebuild it into a socialist or communist country, the most important thing you must do is take over health care.
