Keir Starmer ‘gets rid of’ 10 Downing Street’s Thatcher portrait

Great stuff. Wrap it up and stick it in a cupboard.. The next tory govt can dig it out and put it back up in 2150.

We need to rid ourselves of these chains.

Let me guess, he replaced it with a painting of Chamberlain?

Maybe you can replace your national anthem too.

Chamberlain earned it by scoring 100 points in a win against the New York Knicks on March 2, 1962.

Wilt the Stilt would have dunked on the British PM and yelled "USA!". Or at least reminded the Brits of the special relationship which shouldn't be usurped by socialism.

Ahh, the good old days where men were patriotic.

Thatcher was 10X the leader and also helped, along with Reagan and JPII, to defeat the USSR

Well the new regimes leadership is yet to be enacted and tested so we can't judge them yet.

However, Thatcher along with Reagan and even Mulroney in Canada were all on board for civil liberty and capitalism. Each doing their part to defeat communism, at least in Russia.

The problem today is communism has risen stronger than ever and these same nations lost their will and concern. We are all now feeling to consequences of decades of appeasement and false partnerships.

These fools have no idea how China is going to act if their military trajectory continues, especially when paired with Iran and N Korea.

Im quite encouraged. Starmer is seen as a reluctant socialist at best.
Taking a positive action like this is a good thing. Yes its performative but a hopeful sign for the future.
I don't even want to know what kind of fucked up shit you ascribe to.

You got life fucked up. You're one of the students Pink Floyd was talking about.
You didn't need that education.

You're a hammer, all you need is a sickle to make you complete.
Do I have a Scythe? No, but I got a sickle, and a swingblade.

I`m enjoying my Socialist Medicare and Social Security. Being a retired Socialist union member, I like my pension checks too. Does that mean I`m not patriotic?

Because I see things differently to you ?

No. It means you like socialism as it worked for you.

Apply that across industries and in particular government, have them control and manage the economy and your health for you and you are at the mercy of others. As I understand it this also applies to healthcare in the U.S where they mandate more HMOs instead of place of choice. Of course, I don't need to explain how bad our healthcare system has been.

Ironically, we are legally forced to buy insurance on everything from our home to our cars (we have some of the highest insurance premiums in the world, keeping us further in poverty with little discretionary income), this money could have been used for healthcare or retirement savings.

Wilt didn't get paid what he got paid and earn his place in NBA history due to anything but a meritocracy. Socialism would have failed him and all athletes miserably.
