But let's face it, the government is making money off the increased price of oil. They know it's something people and companies need so they are going to buy it regardless of the cost. And the higher the price the more taxes they pull in.

Again this is something that all goes away if Biden reverses his reversals on trumps domestic oil production plan. Instead of fixing the problem they want to waste time and money investigating it.

For all of the billions you see the oil companies at the top line, consider their profit margin on a gallon of gas is $0.07. The Federal Government gets $0.18 per gallon of gas and the state and locals get their share on top of that (See California). So the Federal Government gets $0.18 per gallon of gas for risking nothing.
