Lost in the mists of time! Anglo-Saxon island is discovered...in a field near Louth

Archaeologists have revealed that an 'ordinary-looking field' in rural Lincolnshire was actually once a thriving island settlement with trading links across Europe. All knowledge of the settlement had faded away into the mists of time, until metal detectorist Graham Vickers found an eighth century silver writing stylus in a field at Little Carlton, near Louth and reported it to the Portable Antiquities Scheme.
