Musk (and other wealthy tech leaders) want to increase legal immigration and the number of H1B visas in order to get the skills they need. Yet other MAGA diehards are dead set against this because it undermines the opportunities for American workers.

In a real working government we'd see a place for training and apprenticeships to increase the skill levels in the workforce but in the mess that is MAGA we see infighting as differing ideologies emerge and the tensions become visible to us all.

I myself am an immigrant originally working here on a H1B Visa, but I also advocate for training programs and apprenticeships and feel that the tech sector should be compelled - by laws - to offer training to address any skills shortage rather than bringing thousands of Indian and Chinese workers.

The problem here is that "school choice" doesn't need to be done with vouchers. The UK has school choice and it doesn't use vouchers. Literally you can choose whatever school you like in the UK, they can reject you though, which is an issue.

Because no matter what, school places are going to be limited. So, "good schools" will attract people and then they'll be able to decide who they want, and poor schools will end up with kids whose parents don't care.

There's nothing wrong with a person paying for their own education and healthcare.

The people in the US pay for everything already, including all of the bombs we're dropping on Gaza and every other war the US embarks upon. The nation could nationalize healthcare and the public would still pay for it BUT the insane profits skimmed off by private wealth would no longer be a factor.

The biggest cause of bankruptcy in the United States is health care. A government for the people would emphasize the welfare of those people. The US is an oligarchy and at no time in recent memory has that been so obvious.

Where did I refer to "post graduate"? my point is a "tech worker" doesn't need a degree, it's totally unnecessary to be productive with computers and programming, it's a myth.

Given a sufficient aptitude and creative thinking skill one can be trained to design and write software in a few months. There's no need for a person to study full time for three or four years.

Sure they do. And I'm sure plenty of Americans have such jobs.

I watched a Youtube video about a Filipina woman who got a job in a high school teaching Math. The school just couldn't get a teacher to fill that role. And she did the job and everyone was happy with her, but she didn't know if she could stay.

Millions of Americans are there who could potentially do the job, but nobody capable wanted it.

Imagine how much harder it must be for much more skilled jobs.
