Midterms 2010
The 2010 midterm election were the third consecutive midterm election held in a president's first term where Republicans picked up seats across both houses of Congress.
It was also the second consecutive midterm election where party control in the House of Representatives changed hands.
Midterms 2014
The elections saw sweeping gains by the Republican Party in the Senate, House, and in numerous gubernatorial, state, and local races. The Republicans gained control of the Senate for the first time since 2006, and increased their majority in the House. The Republicans also gained two seats in governors' races. This election marked the fourth consecutive midterm election in which party control of at least one chamber of Congress changed hands.
