Nazi spent the past month desperately trying to figure out how to make this go away, and tell the Senate how to conduct the trial.

She couldn't come up with anything, so she is about to slink over to Mitch with her clusterfuck, and Mitch is rubbing her nose in it.

McConnell crows on Senate floor that Pelosi's impeachment 'gambit' produced 'absolutely nothing'

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., on Monday tore into House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., just days after the speaker backed down from her refusal to send the articles of impeachment against President Trump to the Senate, calling Pelosi’s delay a “strange gambit” that “produced absolutely nothing.”

During a speech on the Senate floor, McConnell chastised Pelosi for ending what he called “her one-woman blockade” and questioned her strategy for holding off sending the articles to the Senate.

Well, there is a legitimate question to be answered here: What's the point?

Everybody knows that this whole process will NOT result in the removal of the President.

There are a lot of side agendae around - getting Senators to cast votes that might be difficult to justify during their re-election campaigns, keeping Dem. Senators running for President occupied during the first couple primaries, damaging the President through testimony, and so forth.

But we all know how it ends. So what's the point?

You are right. It all should have just been swept under the rug and forgotten. Nothing to see here.

That's pretty much what the democrats are doing. They kind of shot them selves in the foot on this.

Moscow Mitch is just pissed because Nancy has strategically removed his cajones (without his knowledge) and has been feeding them to him..slowly. He's mad because she's outplayed him. He was ready for the sweep under the rug acquittal, nothing to see here Senate "trial". Now you have moderate Republicans like Susan Collins and Lamar Alexander negotiating for witnesses..something Mitch said wouldn't happen just a few scant weeks ago. Each day that does by, his wish for a speedy trial is undermined by not only the moderates in his own party, but by Trumps wish for a Senate Spectacle.

We truly live in popcorn munching times!

WTF are you talking about? It was Mitch trying to make it all go away.

Well here's the bad news for you football boy. As of tonight, Mitch doesn't have the votes to dismiss the articles.

At least 4, and probably more, are going to vote for rules that require witnesses to testify.

Fumble!

The last thing they want is witnesses testifying at the trial. That is unheard of at a trial.

Zero witnesses testified publicly in Clinton’s impeachment trial.

Bolton said he would testify if subpoenaed.

Consider that subpoena issued.

And one for Mick Mulvaney to.

Might be interesting, but the outcome of all this is a foregone conclusion. There won't be enough votes to oust Trump.

Maybe. Maybe not.

But it's another stab wound in what is adding up to death by a thousand cuts by November.

When the Majority leader has already concluded that there was no crime and he will be acquited, it does beg the question how is that a fair trial

and Trump has been crowing "no due process" but its mitch who will not allow testimony of witnesses
