How is prosecuting criminals unfair?

Selective prosecution is unfair.

Former Education Secretary Bill Bennett said Friday on "The Story" that federal prosecutors in the Southern District of New York do not seem to have a specific crime they are pursuing in regard to President Donald Trump.

Bennett said that former Trump attorney Michael Cohen decided to "take a plea in order to save [his] own hide" and that observers are "getting way ahead of the story."

"What is the crime?" Bennett asked. He said that paying off pornographic actresses is not a crime but that "failure to disclose" such payments could be a crime.


He added that the words "Russia" and "collusion" appear nowhere in the probe that now involves Cohen, "National Enquirer" head David Pecker and Trump Organization CFO Allen Weisselberg.

"Apparently, the crime is 'being Donald Trump'," Bennett said. "They are in search of a crime."

"They're after whatever they can nail the president on," he said.
