I remember when the New Republic was a great magazine. In those days, the editors would have regarded this as nothing short of parody. Quite obviously the magazine today has become a joke

The only people who are a threat to democracy are those who don't think our "leaders" can be criticized.

The Stalinists are sure in a full Orwellian assault these days. Just the other day, Hillary indicated that a freely-held election of Trump instead of the Stalinist candidate was also some sort of threat to Democracy.

That’s in response to the G7 putting the USA on the list of democracies at risk. Trump showed how we could easily become a Russia where guys like trump rig elections.
