other than a fluke luck hit to the spine. MANY deer, etc, have run off with broken shoulders, don't kid yourself about a a shoulder hit RELIABLY dropping big animals. the FACT is that the mammalian brain ALWAYS has 5 second's worth of oxygated blood in it. It doesnt matter if you blow the heart apart, SOME critters (and men) can, have, and will keep running'fighting for a few seconds. blood loss CANNOT shut them down faster than 4-5 seconds.
what we see if the shot DOES drop the target, is the psyche being overwhelmed by shock, which sometimes happens, but it's NOT physical incapacitation. for a fact. Men have stayed in the action after taking 3006 ball, 12 ga slugs, 00 blast (centered, at 10 ft) etc. If physical incapacitation WAS so wonderfully consistent, those cases would not be on the books. but they ARE documented.
all you can do is increase the odds of your chest hits being effective, by using the maximally destructive shocking load, and lots of good hits. or pull head shots.
