I'm against that too. It's a terrible idea. But if new york wants to do this, it's their money. As long as they don't ask for increased federal funding to make up for the money this program will require, I'm fine with it

the story is out of date. The program went nowhere.
but it does cost $115k per year to incarcerate someone.
