Study: New E15 gas can ruin auto engines
The fuel industry's American Petroleum Institute tested the 15 percent ethanol gas approved in 2010 and found it gums up fuel systems, prompts "check engine" lights to come on, and messes with fuel gauge readings.

"Failure of these components could result in breakdowns that leave consumers stranded on busy roads and highways," said the industry report. Worse: API said the fuel problems--not found in E5 or E10 blends--aren't always covered by auto warranties.
The industry prefers pure fuel to an ethanol mix, but the report isn't likely to slow the administrations green push, according to a Washington auto lobbyist.

ONCE again the LAW of Unintended consequences comes into play!!!

"intervention in a complex system invariably creates unanticipated and often undesirable outcomes."

THIS totally incompetent inept INEXPERIENCED administration ONCE again feeling BIG IDEAS BIG AGENDA all screwing up our country!

WHY must everything Obama touches BECOME a mess? Becomes MORE complicated!
Obamacare is up to 13,000 pages of rules regulations and only starting to be implemented!
Do you idiots UNDERSTAND coupled with engines gumming up to insurance premiums skyrocketing Obama has done absolutely EVERYTHING to mess up the United States!

AND THIS IS NOT a rubber room or "RANT" thread Moderators!

This is trying to get the majority of people to understand this simple but valid statement:

"intervention in a complex system invariably creates unanticipated and often undesirable outcomes."

Yep. Thats why I try to get ethanol free. Little more expensive but well worth it.

Biofuels are about the most absurd idea one could conceive of for reciprocating piston engines (an anachronism and antique from the nineteenth century) in particular and transportation in general. In fact, it is just a code word for farm subsidies.

Liberal ideas fuck up everything in life. Been going on forever. Everything they touch turns to dog doo, the auto industry being the most prominent. Now, you want to buy a car with any kind of performance, you pay through the nose thanks to the fucks who want everybody to be driving 2 door Specks.

I hate ethanol. Not only does it completely fuck up cars, especially older ones, but it doesn't do anything to help the environment. This is a case of the government pushing this for so long, they don't want to admit they are WRONG! I'm sure they want older vehicles to be destroyed. They should allow us the choice of using that crap or not. But, with most things they are not pro-choice.

I urge everybody who is not a limpwrister to consider getting a Mustang with the new 5.0 Coyote engine.........sick performance for about 32K and an interior damn close to BMW quality. Get one now before the k00k left has cars needing to average 200 mpg.

Add this to the long list of damaging unintentional consequences brought about by central planners.

But don't you worry, they're just SURE they'll get it right next time! :doubt:

You really don't know anything about the use of ethanol fuels in America, do you?

Bet you never heard of the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007, signed into law by President G.W. Bush, or that the EPA does not mandate the use of E-15, or that its use is only allowed for use in vehicles newer than 2001, that it is not allowed to be sold for use in motorcycles or small engines, that fuel pumps must be clearly marked to show that AND that they must have two hoses to prevent E-15 accidentally being introduced to engines which can't handle it, or that it is not readily available in most places.

All you know is this: E-15 + EPA + Obama is President = OMG! OBAMA!

Actually, alcohol is a good automotive fuel...heck, there is a reason alcohol engines are handicapped when running against gasoline-burning engines. But yes, the whole ethanol-gas fiasco is pretty stupid.

Well, I'm not all that worried about E15...worst case, I have to richen the carb on my Caddy a bit.

I'll get one just as soon as I see your check for $30,000!

I do know that it COSTS
The two largest variables in the cost of ethanol are the cost of corn and the cost of natural gas or other sources of heat needed to process the mixture.
When corn costs $2 a bushel, it costs between $1 and $1.20 to make a gallon of ethanol
This means at 10% of current gas mixture each gallon of gas has almost 12 cents ADDED to the price of gas to produce ethanol!
HOW stupid is that???
We are using 40 percent of corn to produce ethanol. The remainder goes toward food and beverage production.
More than one-third of our corn crop is used to feed livestock. Another 13 percent is exported, much of it to feed livestock as well.

I know it won't pull a couple of tons of hay, either. But because the tree-hugger bunch doesn't want, or need, that kind of horsepower, the rest of us should be denied.

It is incredibly stupid, but then, what libtard policy hasn't been lately? They never look past the advertised feel-good effect.

E10 gas is better than regular gas. My motorcycle & lawn equipment used to gum up with varnish over the winter on regular gas. Then I had to clean them with carburetor cleaner every spring. I have never had that problem with E10 gasoline. Also E10 prevents water from building up in tanks. Used to be when a tanker truck filled the tanks at the gas station it would stir up the scummy water in the bottom of the tank & send it into your gas tank & clog up your fuel system. That does not happen with E10. The entire gasoline system is cleaner with E10.

Oh...now it's not about damage to engines and Obama...now it's about cost and the availability of corn. I see. Move the goal posts when challenged, right?

Ok...let's move the goalposts and see what happens:

Ethanol is competitive with the cost of producing a gallon of gasoline, without a subsidy, when oil is above $70 per barrel. It is, and has been for some time.

The Biofuels FAQs: The Facts About Biofuels: Ethanol

Availability:

In 2011, the US produced 316,165,000 metric tons of corn. We consumed 281,100,000 metric tons, for all purposes including ethanol, which left 59,700,000 metric tons for export...a surplus of corn.

The whole world produced 816,006,000 metric tons, but consumed 836,118,000 metric tons, for a shortfall of just over 20 million metric tons. That's good news for American farmers, and especially in light of the fact that we COULD produce as much as 15 BILLION bushels by 2020 if we wanted to. The market will probably dictate that we will (you DO believe in the free market, don't you?)

https://docs.google.com/viewer?a=v&...WPKL-u&sig=AHIEtbQWh0UEEvnOXP1KzEQ6QnGnhgo_fA

Bottom line? We can produce it, we can afford it, if used properly it won't damage our engines and, along with the vastly increased production of oil and gas under this administration, we will become a net EXPORTER of oil and gas within a decade or so.

Why do you have a problem with that?

Oil production is controlled by the elite politics in every country in the world. They wield ultimate power over us citizens. J.D. Rockefeller of the Standard Oil monopoly bought congress & passed Prohibition of Alcohol to eliminate Alcohol/Ethanol from fueling automobiles & competing with oil. Now the oil companies funded the scientifically discredited Pimentel & Patzek studies claiming ethanol uses more energy than it creates & drives up food & gas prices. J.D. Rockefeller of the Standard Oil built Rockefeller Center to house the biggest media companies in the USA & has used that media centers power to blast the airwaves & news papers with their biased ethanol research propaganda. They have very effectively brainwashed most of the population.

You brainwashed idiots also fail to comprehend the facts. Corn Ethanol creates more food than without ethanol. 98% of all corn went to feed livestock who's digestive tract is designed for grass & leaves. Livestock do a poor job digesting corn causing digestive & health problems with the animals & huge methane gas emissions. But livestock grow 30% faster on 15% less (distillers dried grains)-DDG feed when the corn is broken down into easily digested DDG feed at ethanol plants. The Corn Ethanol used to get emitted from the livestock as Methane Gas which is 15 times worse Greenhouse Gas than (Carbon Dioxide)-CO2. Now that potential corn methane is turned into ethanol before the DDG feed is fed to livestock.

Besides the fact that Corn Ethanol increased food production & eliminated the 15 times more damaging than CO2 Methane Emitions from corn fed livestock. Corn Ethanol also replaced the highly toxic MTBE additive in gasoline that was polluting our water supply. Corn ethanol has created so much food infact that China complained to the WTO & launched an investigation into how the US farmers wer dumping so much DDG feed & corn into their country at prices far below what their farmers could produce DDG feed & Corn.

These elite have been playing people like you for suckers forever. For over 130 years they have been telling you we were at Peak Oil to justify high prices & wars. They make fortunes off of you suckers who will go to your grave believing Ethanol is bad & paying high gas price is ok because of Peak Oil.

Why do you have a problem with that?

First of all THIS ADMINISTRATION HAS reduced production on Federal Lands by
In 2008 under President Bush, there were a total of 55,085 oil and gas leases in effect on federal land.
In 2011 under Obama, there were just 49,174, a decrease of 11 percent.

Obama 19% Decrease in acreage under lease
In 2008 under Bush, there were 47.2 million acres of federal land under lease.
In 2011 under Obama, there were just 38.5 million, a decrease of 19 percent.

ANY increase in production has been DUE to developments generated by that nasty OIL MAN BUSH!
All the while the Obama EPA is shutting DOWN coal mines, thus putting more pressure on OIL production and
you want food taken from babies mouths to make ethanol????

REALLY proud of that are you???
