Obamacare and the Southern States

There are problems with Obamacare because it was mainly written to satisfy what the health insurance companies and other businesses wanted.

Now if we reformed Obmacare by moving to a universal health care system, nobody would have to open their wallets, because all the universal health care systems in the world cost less than the American health care system does. Not all universal health care systems are socialist, by the way. In many, people are given a card, doctors and hospitals remain private businesses or nonprofits, and people can go wherever they want.

Now, about saving money. The United States spends about 18% of Gross Domestic Product on our health care system and the health care industry is pushing that up further at a rapid rate. The most expensive universal health care nation, Germany, pays about 12% of her Gross Domestic Product, or about 2/3 of what America pays. Most universal health care nations are below 10% of Gross Domestic Product, which is getting into the area of half, or slightly over half, of what we pay.

For those lower prices, everyone is covered.

Most of the universal health care system are of better quality than the American system.

In a large number of universal health care nations, he average life expectancy is longer than in he United States, so in those universal health care nations, people live longer and pay less.

The universal health care systems are also better than the American health care system on a number of other outcome measures. There are statistics on the United Nations website if you wish to look into this further.

Basically then, the American health care system is a scam designed to extract as much money from patients, their families, their employers, etc. as possible.

In universal health care nations, the health care system give everyone care, and better medical care, than the United States - for less money.

Jim

There was no healthcare crisis in the USA. less than 1% of legal americans were uninsured.

So, in their inherent stupidity, the dems completely screwed up the best medical system in the world to get insurance for the 1%.

It would have been much cheaper to just have the govt buy a policy for the uninsured.

You fail to address the fact that insurance premiums were increasing by ten to fifteen percent every year for quite some time before the ACA was passed. We were in crisis. Now, whether or not the ACA is the answer, we are going to have to wait to see. At this point, everyone for or against it is just guessing. Telling us everything was just fine before Obamacare is just being completely dishonest.

I can tell it's NOT gonna reduce healthcare costs. It OUTLAWS high deductible policies like I had that I chose to keep my rate down.. NOW -- my rate will go up.

What it DOES DO IS ---

1) Give the insurance companies a guaranteed new stream of captive customers.

2) Provide the insurance companies with free MARKETING AND SALES staff courtesy of the public exchanges.. They will never need to pay broker commissions again on MOST of their written policies..

3) A free collection agency to guarantee their payments. Courtesy of public exchanges.

4) Gives the govt access to personal financing and banking information and health information in a way that we would have never imagined just a few years ago..

And of COURSE --- they've earned that trust --- haven't they? Especially after all the lies that have been told about how wonderful this steaming pile is...
