BUTLER COUNTY, OH (WCMH) — There is a renewed push to have teachers trained and armed with guns in schools.

Butler County Sheriff Richard K Jones is an advocate of this plan. He has offered to cover the cost for teachers to take a concealed carry class in Butler County, which is north of Cincinnati. After receiving 300 requests, Jones said the limit had been reached.

There are 83 public schools in Butler County, OH. Let's say there is an average of 50 teachers per school (a conservative estimate). That means about 7% of the county's teachers are interested in carrying guns in school. A serious minority of teachers. What do the other teachers think? Would they work in a school where their colleagues are carrying guns? What do the parents think? Do they want their kids in schools where teachers have guns on campus? It's ridiculous. A stupid, foolish, dangerous idea.

I believe strongly the taxpayers should pay for the firearm, ammo, training, and bonus for each teacher as well. At least 2 days per month minimum for training as well. Just giving one training does zero good. Small price to pay.

No. The taxpayer shouldn't pay for this shit. If a teacher is such a pussy they need a gun to feel safe and create a classroom hazard for their students, then they need to pay for it themselves.

Just like they have a right to carry a gun, I have a right not to pay for this nonsense.

I find it funny Trump and Republicans wants to fund bonuses for teachers who carry guns, but want to defund school breakfasts for kids who need it.

The NRA and taxes on the purchase of guns should pay for any measures that are taken to make public places safe from mass shootings.
