This all reminds me of a poem.
First They Came for the Jews
First they came for the Jews
and I did not speak out
because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for the Communists
and I did not speak out
because I was not a Communist.
Then they came for the trade unionists
and I did not speak out
because I was not a trade unionist.
Then they came for me
and there was no one left
to speak out for me.
Pastor Martin Niemöller
In this case it seems that they come for one specific religion. In California there was a city seal that had a cross as well as pagan symbolism on it, the ACLU fought hard to get the cross removed and were successful. Regardless of the historic symbolism of that cross, it didn't matter to the ACLU. Each time they are successful in silencing the people on public land we are one step closer to an exclusive society where certain expression will not be tolerated, except in hidden cellars accross the land.
While I am not a Christian, I will fight for their right to be represented publicly on public land as well as private. I will fight for this as I too would like to be included in the public sector rather than remitted to a 'private' expression of religion and beliefs only at home. You cannot relegate my expression to the home, it is against the first amendment.
