The officials hope that scenes of daily clashes between Israeli soldiers and Palestinians in the West Bank will prompt Obama to exert pressure on the Israeli government to make far-reaching concessions to the Palestinian Authority.

This is why the Palestinian Authority leadership has been encouraging its constituents lately to wage a “popular intifada” against Israel, each time finding another excuse to initiate confrontations between Palestinians and Israel.

The Palestinians will not be satisfied with anything short of destabilizing Israel. The Palestinians have demonstrated that they cannot make a peaceful, economically viable, and productive society given the same resources as Israel.

The idea of a “popular intifada” is a childlike attempt by the Palestinians to throw a tantrum and draw more attention to their cause.

I noticed, most recently, that Kuwait awarded the International Labour Organization (ILO) a half-million dollars for its operations in the Occupied Territories. The ILO is trying "to strengthen labour market governance, facilitate the development of a social security system, and promote gender equality and women’s empowerment."

What I thought was strange, is that while the Palestinians are trying to gear-up another “popular intifada,” the ILO in Gaza sees its work in as more "post-conflict economic recovery" in nature. This is just another case where the Palestinians themselves, are working to cross-purposes with those trying help. And this distinguishes itself from the West Bank.

Israel is working towards a state-breakdown on the issues. It to, is losing some support, gradually over time, because it is lending tacit state approval to land confiscations, violence against Palestinian political activists, arbitrary detentions, and the general formation events that constitute the environment in which settlers operate comfortably in a lawless fashion. Where, in the past, there might have been some justification for certain events, today it is becoming more obvious that violence and intimidation are being used by a minority of settlers with the intent and aim of forcing Palestinians off their land. What makes this so distasteful is that the Israeli Government is gradually moving in the direction of establishing a clear reputation of being unfair and prejudicial against the rights of the Palestinian. We are now past the point where the Government specifically, and the Israeli nation as a whole, must take unilateral steps to rectify the injustice and make what restitution is can for the injustice of the past. Only in this way can the Israeli show that they represent the better and more enlightened society; and restore it tarnish reputation.
