The thing about liars is that they will always find a way to lie. Here is the situation.

The cop pulls over a car and the driver can't produce the registration or proof of insurance. OK. The driver is arrested and the car is to be towed. So far so good right? But the cop searches the car and discovers heroine and a gun.

Now the baddie is busted for far more serious charges. When the baddie is arraigned the cop shows the video of his surprised reaction at finding the gun and drugs. Way to go Officer.

Then some inconsistencies start to pop up. These lead the cop to admitting that he had staged the search for the court. Hi Officer, have you ever heard of perjury? Perhaps you have heard of tampering with evidence.

Well charges against the baddie have been dropped. No surprise since the evidence can't be used against him.

Staging the scene for the camera is obviously the next step in body camera use and abuse. I mean as we saw in the Michael Slager case staging the scene of the shooting is practically automatic isn't it?

I still believe a small amount of our cops do this kind of thing, but the good ones are happy to cover for the bad. Until they police their own, they ill never have the respect they need to do their jobs.

The power of the corporate state. For profit prisons need filled for maximal return on shareholder "investment". This creates a for profit motive for higher rates of crime and violence in society, longer sentences, higher rates of recidivism, and more "criminalized" behaviors. And since the jobs are not really coming back, the system can turn $40-50K per hominid per year on the inside and taxpayers subsidize it all. Makes no difference at all it folk are guilty and arrested within the law or not in terms of profitability.

When I was in the 82nd Airborne we were indoctrinated with the simple premise. We took care of fellow paratroopers. It was us against everyone else. That mentality exists in law enforcement as well as elite military units. The difference is that part of our lesson was that paratroopers did not lie. We were trusted and a liar was condemned by the brotherhood.

A good friend of mine was caught lying and was punished severely. No one thought it was unfair. No one resented the comand for punishing my friend.

Here we get to the difference. My life rested in my friends hands more than once. Movement on live fire ranges, demolitions training, actual combat. Yet I didn't make excuses for him.

The police make excuses for cops who are caught lying. They take the brotherhood and pervert it. Protecting a fellow cop is more important than anything else. Look at the situations of when a cop is threatened much less killed. The road blocks go up. The stops are pulled out and out comes the Military hardware. But when grandma is killed a cursory investigation ensues. No citywide or even regional manhunt. No helicopters flying low over wooded areas. No searchers at double arm intervals. Even when murderers escape from prison there is less of a response than when a cop killer is on the loose.

The baddie in those cases attacked the brotherhood. Nothing is worse than that. The official excuse is that the baddie attacked a cop, and if he will do that there is no limit to what the criminal will do. Why isn't this response broken out when a baddie robs or attacks a Priest?

You see what I am saying. A while ago a Parish in Louisiana was in the news. The police shut down half a highway and set up roadblocks to escort an ambulance. A cop was on the way to the hospital with a critical shooting victim. But this response is not normal. The police normally watch the ambulance drive off with shooting victims. If it gets stuck in traffic so what? A few people raised questions about this reaction and were told that the police were out there defending them and if that kind of action saved a cops life it was with it. Apparently anyone who objects to shutting down a city is guilty of war on cops or something.

When a little black girl is shot and clinging to life by a thread there is no flying wedge of police cars to get her to the hospital as fast as possible.

I understand the mentality of the brotherhood. I'd have taken care of American Wounded on a battlefield before locals or enemy. But I would not pretend that the response was anything other than us versus them. In my case the them would have been foreign combatants for the most part. The police can't say that here. The "them" is the American Citizens.
