Then he went Democratic-Republican Party and that went to be the Democratic Party for a time for him.
Thomas Jefferson belonged to the Democratic-Republican Party, which was developed by Anti-Federalists in 1792. The Democratic Republicans were in support of state rights and a strict interpretation of the US Constitution. The party was prominent in the early 1800s.
Sounds like the Republican Party to me no matter what they called themselves
