Confederate flag on police uniform patch stirs controversy in small South Dakota town INFORUM

Interesting situation here. Town is Gettysburg, South Dakota. Police Departments patch has American and Confederate flag...and a cannon.

Why? Heritage. The town...and the state itself...didnt exist in the Civil War. South Dakota was a state...in 1889. The town of Gettysburg SD...didnt exist.

It was founded by veterans of the Civil War...from the North AND South. They all came here and founded a new place.

Why did they get along? They respected each other as soldiers. Purely a battlefield respect. Nothing else.

And thus...the two flags. BATTLEFIELD flags. Not political flags.

One soldier's respect of another soldier for the shared experience and courage. Flags representing each mans battlefield hardships.

In a town and state...that didnt even exist in the slave era.

So here...it truly is the towns heritage. And it has absolutely nothing to do with slaves. As no slaves ever existed in this town...or state. And it was all founded by opposing soldiers who respected each other and united after a war that most on both sides probably didnt want to fight.

Notice how it's always local police that tell obama to fuck off?
No wonder he wants a national police force.

Yep. Cops have a very low tolerance for bullshit.

Notice how almost no politicians are ex cops? Thats why.
