Lt. Gov. Jennifer Carroll resigned Tuesday, two days after being interviewed by Florida Law Enforcement officers about her involvement with Allied Veterans of the World, the Florida Times-Union reports.

After an investigation by the IRS and Secret Service, officers from Allied Veterans, a non-profit that operates internet cafes in Florida, and Nelson Cuba, the president of the Jacksonville Fraternal Order of Police, were arrested Tuesday on racketeering charges.

The group has been accused of money laundering as well as using money from a nonprofit for personal gain and misrepresenting the amount it donated to charity, the Times-Union reports.
