Republican SNAP Proposals Could Take Food Away From Millions of Low-Income Individuals and Families

prices are set by the capitalists.
What a maroon.

Yeah, you imbecile. Food grows for free. There are no watering requirements or fertilizing. Hell, we don’t even need farmers.

Hey everybody. Problem solved. Dumfuk has cleverly pointed out that food is free.

OK so what happened to fixing things we created to help?
Instead of just destroying then.
And then just saying we will figure it out later????

That opens a whole new can of worms. We attend a lot of pot lucks and I am amazed at the number of people who have food allergies. Seems one woman can't eat anything normal, LOL, I have never heard of some of the things that she has in her diet. Then you have the "gluten free" crowd and lactose intolerant. Not to mention the vegan and plant based bunch. It would be a nightmare to put together pre packaged bags as it seems that in modern times, one size doesn't fit all anymore.
Hey now, I'm lactose intolerant and it's not a choice. Thankfully, there are enzyme supplements easily available. Funny thing, it took me like two years to discover them, and I lost 20 freaking lbs going completely dairy free. :p

Those who have legitimate, medically certified allergies could be dealt with. The vegetarian, vegan and “I don’t like” crowds can choose… eat what’s provided or starve. Either way the taxpayers benefit. Who knows, maybe it even gets some of these lazy fucks off their ass.

Several years ago I did a grocery run for my sister-in-law and her family (4 kids and a good for nothing husband). I spent close to $250, and provided her with the recipes to make the food last eight days. Four days later we got asked for money for food. When asked why we were told “the kids won’t eat Whst you bought”. My response… “when they get hungry enough they will.”

“Prominent Republican lawmakers and conservative think tanks have proposed cuts and other harmful policy changes to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) that could gain traction in Congress this year. These changes would cut food assistance across the U.S., making it harder for millions of people to buy the groceries they need to eat a healthy diet.”

Why are able-bodied people without dependents on subsidies? I’m not even sure why having dependents is an issue. Most people with kids work everyday. Yet it’s a big “mystery” why there are different outcomes for some people in this country.

When you can buy candy, soda and snacks on Snap it needs to be cut.

On a side note the dumbest sign homeless people hold is will work for food. No shit. We’re all out here working for food you fucking asshole.

Cry me a fucking river.

Almost every member of my wife’s family collects SNAP. Anywhere from less than $200 to over $1200 depending on the family unit. Generally it’s gone by the third week of the month… BECAUSE THRYRE BUYING CRAP!!! They refuse to coupon, won’t shop at BJs or other discount stores and spend the money on high priced luxury items rather than what they should be buying. My wife and I will no longer offer to help with their groceries because they refuse to shop smart.

I have long been in favor of replacing food stamps with a pseudo-food pantry operation where individuals or families show up and pick up pre-packed bags of food based on the composition of the family. I’m even willing to specialize the food based on ethnic tastes.,
You're like God, aren't you? You know what everyone is doing with their public assistance. Amazing. Your family does this and that, and you disapprove of what they do, hence what they're doing must be immoral and of course, everyone else is a carbon copy of your family.

The difference is "PUBLIC ASSISTANCE." If the government is providing you with your sustenance, it is their right to ensure that assistance isn't being abused. If you don't want the government assuring that the assistance is being used intelligently, get off your useless ass and provide for yourself.

Please point out the part of the Constitution that states the Federal Government is responsible for feeding anyone. I can save you the trouble of searching and tell you it's not there. So...

10th Amendment.
" The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people. "

let the states pick it back up like its supposed to be

Blue states are loaded with money so they can probably budget for it, it's the Trump loving red states that will suffer. Republican governors, congressman and senators, 99.5% of which back Trump are going to be in for a world of hurt once he cuts SNAP, federal funding for public schools and drives up inflation when he tariffs Canada, Mexico and other countries. Can't wait.

Oh please, "Concerned American," spare me your bullshit, tough-guy routine. Your whole argument is built on nothing but smug condescension and a fantasy version of how society actually works. You act like public assistance is some sort of privilege handed out to the undeserving, instead of what it actually is, a basic necessity that millions rely on because the so-called "free market" fails to provide for them. The reality is, people don’t wake up one morning and choose to be poor, to struggle for food, to beg for healthcare. The system pushes them into these positions, then people like you turn around and blame them for it.

Moreover, who exactly decides what "intelligent use" of public assistance is? You? Some bureaucratic panel of out-of-touch elites? The same assholes who defend massive corporate welfare:

...but fucking lose their minds if a single mother gets food stamps? Really? What makes you think you get to be the judge of what someone else needs to survive? Maybe you’d like the government to monitor every grocery purchase, every dollar spent on rent, and every doctor’s visit too? Maybe we should install cameras in people’s homes to make sure they’re being “responsible” with their food and electricity? Is that the kind of dystopian nightmare you’re aiming for?

The reality is, that public assistance exists because people need it. Without it, millions of Americans would be left to starve, suffer, and even die from treatable illnesses. Your beloved rich capitalist masters, living in their ivory towers, have no problem with government handouts when they’re handed to "defense" contractors (war profiteers, who make money off of us having plenty of enemies, filling the world with "boogiemen" for us to fear), billionaires, and banks that gamble away the economy every few years demanding a government bailout, but the moment someone struggling to make ends meet gets a lifeline, suddenly you’re outraged. Suddenly it’s about “personal responsibility” and “getting off your ass.” Really? What a joke.

Who really contributes to this country? It’s not the billionaires hoarding wealth in offshore accounts, it’s not the hedge fund managers gambling with other people’s money, and it sure as hell isn’t the politicians who pretend to represent the people while selling them out at every turn. It’s the working class. It’s the people busting their asses in factories, in hospitals, in schools, in the fields, in the kitchens, doing the actual work that keeps this country running. Do you think these people just choose poverty? Do you think they enjoy struggling while corporate executives make more in a day than they will in a lifetime?

What I’m advocating for isn’t some utopian fantasy, it’s basic human decency. Every person in this country deserves food, housing, healthcare, education, and a job. And if the private sector won’t provide those jobs, then the public sector must step up. No one should be left to rot in poverty just because the market decides their labor isn’t “valuable” enough. And spare me the fearmongering about government overreach. Government is nothing more than a tool, that serves the people, not the wealthy elite who have hijacked it for their own benefit to the detriment of everyone else. If we can use it to fund wars, prop up corporations, and bail out banks, we sure as hell can use it to make sure our own citizens don’t suffer and die in the streets.

So no, I won’t accept this right-wing nonsense that public assistance is some sort of undeserved luxury. People don’t need to prove to you or anyone else that they “deserve” to survive. The real problem isn’t the so-called "freeloaders" on public assistance, it’s the system that keeps them in that position in the first place. Do you want people off public assistance? Then fight for a system that guarantees fair wages (as in a living wage, rather than starvation wages, forcing people to work two, three jobs), worker control, and an economy that actually serves the people instead of the profit margins of a handful of billionaires. But I have a feeling that’s not the kind of accountability you’re interested in.

That's the masochistic, self-righteous, right-wing conservative, mammon-worshiping Republicans who hate themselves, because they're members of the working class but think they should become like their wealthy capitalist parasite masters, by licking their boots and voting against their own class interests.

95g6k0 (1).gif

Shame on you, if you're of the working class, renting your labor power, your very life, to a capitalist parasite, and rather than standing with your co-workers, you decide to defend the vested interests of your parasite master, who lives in his ivory tower, relying on the labor (the sweat and tears, even the blood) of others, because you want to become like him. SHAME ON YOU, treacherous, masochistic scumbags, who betray and hurt yourselves, your family, and your friends, out of some delusional desire to become a parasite capitalist master living in opulence and financial security, to the detriment of everyone else. SHAME ON YOU.

He and his cronies are going to be sent packing, perhaps even by many of the same people who voted for him. He'll make conditions so BAD, that the younger "MAGAS" will wake up. Those who are still in the workforce will turn against him. The older MAGAS, they don't care, because they're living off of their SS and other pension plans, and relying on Medicare for their healthcare. They're no longer in the workforce, so they're just out of a delusional, self-righteous, ignorant rancor, voting the way they do before they "kick the bucket". Ultimately, hurting the working class that they were part of all of their working lives. They're pathetic.

Seeing how this country has plummeted even deeper into the plutocratic swamp, which Trump promised to drain back in 2016, people on the right who were comatose, are now waking up. They're saying:

"Who the hell did I vote for?"...

Hell, I'm a socialist who voted for Trump back in 2016 and then I woke up.."Wait a second, he's filling his administration with SWAMP PEOPLE, I thought he was sincere and was going to DRAIN SWAMP". Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me. I didn't fall for the BS in 2020 or now. Trump and his ilk, don't give a rat's ass about the American working class. Wake up people. He doesn't give a shit about you. He never did. He was always a class-conscious, neo-liberal, capitalist warrior, fighting for his class interests. The American working class needs to once more develop the same level of class consciousness as the capitalist wealthy elites.
