Look, more "small" government from your Tea Party conservatives.

Certain Republican lawmakers, including presidential hopeful Lindsey Graham of South Carolina and Jason Chaffetz of Utah, are pushing for a federal ban on online gambling via something called the Restoration of America's Wire Act, aka HR 707.

The new prohibition

It's a battle between real world casinos and online casinos, using campaign cash to wage war on each other with government regulations.

This is what I keep saying. The more you centralize power at the top, the easier it is to capture. If you decentralize power back down to the states, you get instant federal campaign finance reform at the same time.

Good idea. Give rise to yet another pursuit for organized crime to provide.

Nope. But online casinos will just offshore the jobs.

NOW you see why we've been calling them RINOS.

Republican in name only. Democrat lite dressed in wolves clothing.

I've went Independent. I want no part of either of them. I wish a couple of them would break off and start another party.

I was re-negotiating my direct tv account, and the nice lady says "this comes with the horseracing channel." I was hooked like Whitney Houston on coke (-:

And to add I wonder who these Tea Partiers big donors are? You could probably back track and find some big casino owners / bosses.

I stay far away from those gambling sites, they are so addicting and I would lose my shirt.
Of my many weaknesses, gambling is not one of them, thank God. I just don't get why gambling is so attractive to some people.

I like to buy the occasional lottery ticket, but I never get that rush gamblers get.

I had a roommate in the military who literally did lose his shirt to gambling. And everything else. Some casinos opened up nearby, and within six months he declared bankruptcy. It was amazing how quickly that shit took him down.

Never cared for gambling. Trip to Vegas with my fam when I was 21+ way back Mom gave me $20 to play with and I pocketed it then proudly announced I just won $20 on a trip to Vegas. :)

Wait...we went from (ALL) REPUBLICANS want to ban on-line gambling to 'CERTAIN' Republicans?! No 'bait-n-Switch', B$ partisan spin on that one!

That's like initially saying (ALL) Democrats believe putting more US troops on Guam will cause the Island to TIP OVER just because D-Hank Johnson once said so.

:lmao:

I did win $200.00 on a cruise ship last year, but that is how much I put into it...lol....I learned in my studies that gambling, shopping, food and sex release the same feel good hormones from our brain as drugs and alcohol.

Gambling fools are going to find a place to gamble. The net, a real casino, a local bar...they'll use any and all available pissing their money away.
I believe the stigma of gambling makes it much easier o do on line. They probably have certain times they can't go to th bar for fear of people telling their loved ones they were there.

forcing them to go public is a great deterrent.

Doesn't affect me. I've never understood the attraction to gambling. It's very hard to separate me from my hard earned money. "Chance" doesn't attract me.
