Latakia, Syria (CNN)Despite Russia's claim that it would withdraw most of its forces from Syria, it maintains a strong presence at its airbase near Latakia.

While some assets have been removed, others have been added. Here are Russia's main combat assets in Syria.

Two Russian SU-34s on the tarmac at Hmeymim base in northern Syria, May 4, 2016.
  • SU-34 is Russia's most advanced fighter bomber. Its cockpit is fully digital and spacious for a military aircraft, made for long missions.
  • The SU-34 is used for aerial bombardment of ground targets. It can carry both unguided and guided munitions and has a very large payload.
  • It can hold about eight tons of weapons.
  • CNN saw at least six such aircraft at the Hmeymim airbase and several were loaded with bombs and took off for combat missions while we were there.

Russia is fomenting a continued slaughter with side kick Assad---just as it did with side-kick Nasser in 1967

While Russia´s help is really great, this is just another western zion-islamist terror claim.

Why don't you grow up? If your boyfriend would have compromised with those protesting instead of having them mowed down, your boyfriend wouldn't have needed Russia's help in holding on to his regime.

Yessiree, without Russia helping your boyfriend. he might be begging Russia to take him in, and you would be learning Russian to keep him company.

I know you are living in your own puppet´s propaganda world. See, the demands of the protesters were fulfilled, but they turned violent, instead.

"Syria's government has passed a law to lift the country's decades-old state of emergency as protests against the rule of President Bashar al-Assad continue.

The state security court, which handled the trials of political prisoners, has been abolished while a new law allowing peaceful protests has been approved.

The repeal of the emergency law was a key demand of protesters."

"Syria, however, dealt with the Arab Spring in a different manner. Facebook had been blocked in the country since 2007 as part of a crackdown on political activism, as the government feared Israeli infiltration of Syrian social networking sites. In an unprecedented move in 2011 President Bashar al-Assad lifted the five year ban in an apparent attempt to prevent unrest on his own soil following the discontent in Egypt and Tunisia.

During the ban Syrians were still able to easily access Facebook and other social networking sites using proxy servers."

"Protests":
"The Syrian military began pulling out of the southwestern town of Daraa on Thursday after a mission to "restore security and calm," state TV reported.

Government troops have been battling pro-reform protesters over the past month and a half. The human rights group Amnesty International says more than 500 people were killed during the clashes and thousands more were rounded up for questioning.

"Scores were arrested and huge amounts of up-to-date weapons and ammunition in several places were confiscated, which helped bring back the sense of safety to the residents of the city," a Syrian military source told the SANA news agency about the Daraa mission."

You can blabber on all you want, but if Russia wasn't there to help your boyfriend out, God only knows how much more territory your boyfriend would have lost. Why not just be grateful and accept the fact that Russia turned the tide with its help?

Thanks to Putin in a great measure, not to that Wahhabi Hussein Obama...for obliterating a great percentage of ISIS savages in Syria....

I don't agree with the OP this time.

In a war, offensives don´t last forever. You think, the Syrian army can be exhausted but not the "rebels"?
