15 years?! completely unreasonable, bordering on the insane even, President Putin.

And Trump keeps going on about loyalty, not for him, obviously, but towards him. He expects everyone to toe the line, even if he doesn't

She committed treason by supporting the enemy of her country. It likely never crossed her mind.

Oh please. There is no way around it. She is a Russian citizen. Russia is at war with Ukraine. While in Russia she contributed financially to the Ukrainian cause. It's cut and dried treason.
If some person donated to an Iraqi charity (or even a government) in the times of the Iraq war, they would also have been jailed?

Not some person. A citizen supporting an enemy nation in times of war has committed treason. Do you think this is hard to follow?

An American citizen donated a certain sum of money to an Iraqi organization at the times of the Iraq war. Would they be put in jail for that?

Possibly. They should. But we have certain freedoms in this country unavailable in Russia. As a Russian citizen, this ballerina should have known that. There's just no way around it. She committed treason and is in prison for her crimes. Claiming that it would be legal in the United States has absolutely nothing to do with the laws in Russia.

Charges in 'treason' is a repressive tool. In a democratic society a private person can't be charged for treason, even if their country is at war.

Democratic societies are objectionable for a variety of reasons. That's why the brilliant men that created this nation rejected the concept.

The concept of 'democracy' developed over the time. Now, the US is a democracy.

It shows just how abysmal our education is in this country that there are those who imagine the US to be a democracy. Which, of coarse, has nothing to do with the treasonous girl in Russia.

I have nothing to do with American education. Maybe it is why I can look at some things more clearly.
