The problem she describes is an issue throughout all the science fields right now. Hell it’s a problem that is affecting most of America’s institutions if not all of them.
Hard times are coming. People will be forced to innovate to compete for the limited funding that will be available. No new results no paycheck.
But in general, it's another anecdotal example of how Science and Academia in the West is corrupt and ready to sell out to the highest bidder.
Rarely are experiments repeatable anymore, and repeatability is one of the hallmarks of the scientific method.
Otherwise, we should just use the feminist scientific principles from the '70s where they argued that women's intuition should be accepted as a scientific method.

Now I don’t really mind paying for useful discoveries so long as we get useful results for our money.
