This country is about to become unrecognizable as the one I grew up in.
What could their justification possible be?
According to the school board it was that "the audience" wouldn't follow the rules, including applauding."
School Board Chairwoman Marisela Pesina repeatedly threatened to stop the meeting if the crowd did not stop applauding and voicing their agreement with speakers.
Boise State Radio decided that it was the fault of those who mentioned their Christian faith.
The meeting was adjourned quickly thereafter and the room erupted into cries of protest.
The parents who spoke against the policy during the meeting mentioned their Christian faith and characterized transgender children as threats to their cisgendered peers. Many comments focused on bathroom and locker room protocols.
Here is the policy that the board wants to impliment and needs no input from parents over it:
The Caldwell district’s new gender policy would allow students to use the restrooms and locker rooms that correspond with their gender identity rather than their biological sex. School staff must conceal the student’s new gender identity from parents unless the parent has already worked with the school on a “plan” for accommodating the student’s gender identity, according to the policy. On overnight trips, transgender students may not be denied a sleeping room assignment based on their “transgender status,” the policy mandates. School staff must also use a student’s preferred pronouns or be subject to discipline.
We're losing our minds to even consider allowing a policy like that, and/or allowing school boards to declare the 1st Amendment null and void.
They have come up with an even crazier idea than boys in the girls locker room: boys in the girls motel room.
