So. Have your REAL ID yet? Deadline coming.

Yup.
But some Federal buildings might be off limits.
Having a passport is the other option also.

I need to get a passport. Not sure I'd ever use it though, always wanted to visit London, doubt ill ever get the chance, vacation packages are so expensive!

Yet with all those layers of protection people still get away with it. So your solution is to make it even easier?
If you can't see how ridiculous and wasteful the policy is, I can't help you understand it.

The Federal government already knows me. A regular license should suffice. I already proved who I was decades ago.

Yeah, doubt I will ever afford Europe or anything overseas.
At least North America has a lot to see.

LOL. Real ID has been here a long time. The feds saw initial state resistance and threatened to withhold highways funds and other funds. All states capitulated.

Real ID? The feds simply backdoored it in.

A few days to go, no extension announced.
Still, only half of people in MN will be allowed on a plane.

I got mine two years ago when I renewed my drivers license. I collected the paperwork (drivers license, passport, social security card, pistol license, and two bills with my address on them); made my appointment at the RMV; filled out the application and I was in and out of the Registry in 25 minutes, max.

Of the 7 of us in my house only 3 of us have the Real ID.

Too much fear mongering forcing people to rush to the DMV by May 7.

Unless you are flying in May, there is no rush. If you have a passport or Military ID, you don’t need one.
If your current drivers license is valid for a year or more, they are not giving you a rebate.

If you are a frequent flyer, you should have one by now. Otherwise, wait till your license expires and get Real ID then.

Google AI says your number is closer.
But still a lot of people didn't bother.
"AI" just culls info from the internet. I can't even count the number of times I've seen their source as "according to Quora" or "according to a Reddit post." lmao

We've moved so many times so I'm used to having to get a new DL. I had an issue in 1 state because the spelling of my 1st name was spelled different on my SS card than my birth certificate.
When we moved to a different state I let my DL expire past 6 months and had to take a driving test to get a new one. That was an issue since I don't parallel park and the only car I had was an SUV. My husband, who doesn't understand I CAN"T PARALLEL PARK, somehow convinced me I won't have an issue taking test in SUV. I failed and had to borrow a small car from a friend to get my DL.
Georgia has the real ID star so I'm good.

I don't get the issue with real ID, since I everywhere I gotten my DL has required BC, SS and 2 forms proving residency. Also everywhere I've been my DL has to be renewed every 4 years.
