A product of its time in many ways...

Still, the special effects were outstanding for the time and still kind of hold up for a 1950s movie.

Also still nice to see Sven still hosting movies! He's been a fixture of Chicago television since the 1970s.

I still remember the original Svengoolie played Night of the Living Dead once, and it scared the hell out of me (I was 9 at the time, and used to mostly harmless Sci-Fi and Horror movies.)

I thought the movie was pretty cheesy, but I looked twice and never saw any opening credits!

I watched the 1951 classic The Day the Earth Stood Still on TCM last evening.
