Swiss voters reject 'money for nothing' universal income proposal

Perhaps we can send them the Berning Madman, and a few MILLION of his followers to promote European Socialism!

The Turks would have swarmed into Switzerland and bankrupted it.

With the coming of the Robotics Revolution, jobs are going to start disappearing over night and already are. This change in technology will affect EVERY profession and careers are going to tank all over the globe, not just here in the USA.

Something is going to have to be done to prevent the social unrest if not revolution that is coming if people feel like their futures are not secure and they will stand to lose everything that they have built in their lives if they cant find a job.

You can call it wanting free shit all you want, but we are going to have this and a Nordic model Socialist system by the time the dust settles and if the Republicans want to wind up completely irrelevant to anyone and our nations political system just try to stop us from addressing this problem rationally.

ITs not about lazy people who dont want to sweat.

Thread on the topic here: CDZ - Why not have a 'Universal Basic Income' to replace welfare?

Even the Wall Street Journal ran a sympathetic story on the subject. A Guaranteed Income for Every American

The Robotics Revolution is making a UBI necessary and if it is used to replace all other forms of welfare it can actually SAVE the government money.

Interesting. I had assumed they would vote for it. Maybe even socialists know enough is enough.
Switzerland rejected it primarily due tot he realization that a UBI cannot work with open borders.

Another good reason for closing borders.

The UBI and Nordic Model Socialism is going to come to the USA, the only choice will be whether we have a Republican Party remaining or not, or whether the Democrats will run EVERYTHING when the transition is over.

With the coming Robotics revolution something has to happen or people will simply revolt.

People on UBI would be idle, and "idle hands are the Devil's workshop." Proverbs 16:27.

That is not necessarily true.

I dont work on a clock, but I still work.

Just because someone has no job doesnt meant they are not working.

Just because you have a work ethic, doesn't mean everyone else does. UBI bascially subsidizes laziness.

And as in the previous thread, I believe UBI would not replace the welfare state permanently, as programs would be brought back by progressives due to people wasting their UBI money, and the progressive need to "do something".

Over the years I have learned the joy of labor as have millions of others like me, and we are the vast majority of Americans.

Where you get this delusion that most Americans want to sit on the fat asses ans be lazy pieces of shyte is simply bewildering and makes you sound like a typical Hate America Firster. How can America be truly exceptional if all our people are lazy bastards who only work to survive? Are you a closet libtard?

Bullshit. There is less chance of bringing back unneeded and hugely expensive programs than that the UBI would ever be passed in the first place.

Once a UBI is put in place everyone's attitude will go from 'You poor dear' to being, 'You got money, so what are you doing with it?'

Not most Americans, but there will be a sizable minority, and I simply don't trust the type of people to take money and do nothing to remain content with that.

As for your 2nd point, I heartily disagree. a UBI is government power, and progressives will use it to add more government power to protect "those poor poor people who just can't control themselves". They would then say, "well if you won't give us more money to help them, maybe we have to take away your UBI, or take it from "the wealthy", and we are back to welfare, but welfare on steroids.

Ah so we're not all lazy scum bags? Thank you for your generosity.

That wont happen for the same reason that the government hasnt seized everyones guns yet; the government will have to await an optimal time to do such a thing, and voting in more welfare when we are providing everyone with a basic income undermines to the point of NOT EVER HAPPENING any further welfare programs.

You were the one that made an assumption that I was calling everyone lazy. You can take your patronizing sarcasm, and cram it up your ass.

And your trust in the government to not want more power when given the opportunity is noted, and dismissed.

So basically giving people money for nothing is the solution?

There will always be jobs, just not the ones people are expecting. People will need to be flexible.
