1,700 Syrian refugees leaving Lebanon were barred from Syrian territory Thursday, over relations with anti-regime fighters, a security source said.

Approximately 500 undocumented elderly, 400 children and 800 women returning from the northeast Lebanon town of Arsal were blocked from entering their home country after they admitted to being relatives of rebel troops, according to the source, The Daily Star reported.

Syria is ridding itself of a percentage of the population that wanted change but still love their country. Assad is going to eliminate the sunni and make syria an alwaite/shiite nation instead of a sunni nation controled by alwaite/shiites

That is not true. The Sunnis distanced themselves from the secular society. But most of the Sunnies are now with the gov't, even if they opposed Assad in 2011.
