Currently rated undrafted on the guru boards

1. Pat O'Connor DE Eastern Michigan - outstanding power, quickness off the snap. A traditional 3rd round DE prospect with everything except a great double move

2. Roderick Henderson DT Alabama State - has a weight issue, but is very quick off the snap with great power

3. Jylan Ware OT Alabama State - a Pro Bowl OLT prospect who just needs experience and coaching - unreal athlete at 6'7" 315

4. Jarrod Harper DB West Virginia - hidden beneath a wealth of secondary talent at WV - should be tried at CB first - really provides tight coverage and is a solid tackler. Unbelievably, he is reportedly a good student too.

5. Josiah Price TE Michigan State - guru boards are washing out the Spartans. Price is a player - excellent blocker and solid short range target with good hands

6. Barrett Gouger C/G Vanderbilt - should be the #3 Center prospect on guru boards - powerful, athletic, and smart - proven against top competition

I'll grab the next supermarket magazine on the upcoming NFL draft when I get a chance.

Keep this thread on topic - underrated NFL Draft prospects.

"There Goes the Story of the Hurricane"

I like following the NFL and NBA Drafts on TV, because it gives me a nice picture of media attention to links between college and professional sports, and college football and college basketball are the two most popular collegiate athletics on TV today.

There is a nice 'work-oriented' NFL Draft pool out there --- coaches and trainers have a lot of motivation to shuffle through rosters, add complements, and massage talent for future cohesive teams.

For example, I like University of Miami's under-appreciated TE David Njoku who could be a terrific pick-up for the NY Giants in this year's Draft and provide Giants QB Eli Manning a developing target to throw to this season --- I'd like to see the Giants develop a cohesive rivalry with the revamped Dallas Cowboys. Eli will need some good team-play to deal with the 1-2 Cowboys punch of Prescott and Elliot.

exactly,WHY anybody would care about the NFL draft this year after this past seasons bullshit that went on in the NFL just recently the last couple of months with the raiders and chargers is fucking beyond me.fuck the NFL.

Hell, professional sports in general. Endless homages to the corporate state and mass consumption

Evan Engram was drafted by NYG, not Njoku...

Njoku has the great privilege to go to CLE and find out who is the starting QB sometime between now and opening day...

On draft day did anyone pick Russell Wilson as underrated?

We have no clue how good or bad a draft pick will be until a couple years later.

Rick Mirer was a can't miss prospect, Todd Marinovich another can't miss. Brian Bosworth, a stud can't miss prospect.

Kurt Warner didn't get drafted, he won a Super Bowl.

Looked like a deep well of prospects this yr.......thanks Vikes for trading away most of our picks for a journeyman QB.....Somehow we ended up with 2 possible starters with a 41 and a 70

Raiders draft Jylan Ware
Lions draft Pat O'Connor

Sometimes the NFL actually finds 'em....

The 2000 Draft is a perfect example of what you are saying.

For QBs:
Chad Pennington was picked in the 1st round at #18. - played with the Jets for 7 seasons. Good QB with a 66% comp and over 17k yards.

Chris Redman was picked in the 3rd round at #75. - played with the Ravens, but didn't start for the 3 years he was there. Completed 57% & TD/INT of 21-14

Tee Martin was picked in the 5th round at #163. - played 4 years with the Raiders. Had 69 yards passing and 36 yards rushing.

Marc Bulger was picked in the 6th round at #168 - went to training camp and then was waived. Did a stint with the Rams but was never huge.

Spergon Wynn was picked in the 6th round at #183 - played 1 year and had 1 start.

Other than Pennington, none of those QBs did much.

But the guy picked in the 6th round at #199 has done pretty well. I mean if you consider 61k yards passing, 5 Super Bowl rings, 4 Super Bowl MVPs and 2 League MVPs to be successful.

Papageorgio is absolutely right.
