I don't agree with DEI either. Of course people shouldn't be hired based on things like gender, race, etc. But at the same time, I just don't buy the narrative that is being handed to us, in regard to the recent plane crashes, for a number of reasons. I think there's more going on that most people aren't seeing as of yet. But since it's not something I can prove, for now that's all I'm gonna say about that.

The strong push (surge, even) is just bad. The math is bad. If you make a surge to hire more females and "even things out," you are going to get less qualified people. It's just the numbers. If there are 1000 pilots, and the M:F ratio is 9:1, you have to hire 800 F pilots to even it out. The problem is that the pool of F graduates from flight school (or F pilots with experience) is so low that you basically have to let all F applicants in, no matter their ability. Excellent M pilots wont be hired in order to get another (perhaps crappy) F pilot.

Think about if we decided that oil rigs and Alaskan fishing boats needed to be equally M:F. Do you think the price of oil goes up? How much king crab are we going to have that season?
