It wouldn't have mattered because the Bolts won their game against the Islanders.

True. However, neither team in Toronto last night knew that before or while their game was going on.

The Bruins knew a loss meant a guaranteed date with the Carolina Hurricanes instead of the Leafs in the first round. They sat EIGHT starters to all but ensure that result. The Leafs only sat three starters.

So you would likely have had a far easier time against Boston, who you’ve hammed four times this year. Seems like it might have been in your favor to lose last night, on the hope that the Islanders would help you out.

Toronto has been much improved the last few years, but something always seems to happen come playoff time. Like losing their best player last year and bowing out to Montreal.
