The death penalty is barbaric. It's cheaper to lock them up for the rest of their life than it is to execute them.

It's only cheaper if you allow them endless legal appeals.

It definitely works. They never commit another crime, killing people or raping young women, again, no longer having to be guarded, no upkeep for food or housing or prison maintenance. I think the healthcare CEO murderer deserves such a fate, as he has earned it.

It is a deterrent to those that truly do not want to be put to death, themselves. And, the guy that is put to death, is definitely deterred from committing the crime, again. 1/3 to 1/5 of people that simply go to prison, get out and comitt further crimes, sending them back to prison, for 3 hots and a cot, free food, TV and paid security. Not so, of those, whose repeated crimes, see them executed, ending their inhuman criminal activity, permanently.

Thousands of people are dead, killed by convicts who got imprisoned, instead of the death penalty.

More than half still have it. The Bible says, "Thou shall not murder", and we enforce it.

Yet amazingly the State of Texas consistently leads the nation in executions by year.. If it were a deterent to murder, logic would dictate that folks in texas would stop killing people. But they don’t.

Again...through no prism in logic can one look through and find deterrence. One might as well say that suicide bombers are a deterrent to terrorism since the guy will never commit another act of terror.

People executed by the state of Texas have never killed another person.

People given life sentences have killed again.

If evenly matched or outmatched, or especially outnumbered, it works best, and you can pray about it later. Sometimes the relative value of human life can drop rather quickly, due to circumstance beyond your control.
