I visited Boot Bill in Tombstone Az recently with some family who wanted to see it. Most of the markers in boot hill are old rotten painted wood, but there is this beautifully maintained plot and headstone for a Mr John Swain (Slaughter). It really stands out. He was a former slave who moved to Tombstone in 1879 and died in 1945. Interesting that the local people and organizations of Tombstone Az. thought so much of this man that they honored him in this way.
