The Pope's Funeral

Getting into what the president wears is rather petty. Let's just hope Trump doesn't have the Marines assigned to White House duty refitted in Papal Swiss Guard garb.

I don't think Trump has ever worn a black suit in his life.

It simply is not in his DNA.

I am and have always been Protestant, so yeah, I find the rigidity of Catholic services off-putting.

I was raised Catholic and found out what they were really about in the 90's and early 2000's. I converted over to protestant. Catholics are WHACK.

Catholic Mass is intolerable
You go just to get your ticket punched and get Communion

The only thing worse is a Catholic Wedding or Funeral
Instead of celebrating the couple or the deceased, you get the same mass that everyone else gets.

I think a bigger faux pas was skipping out after the service. He didnt even wait to toss some soil on the coffin. Poor.
But he buried his wife on a golf course to get a tax break so what do you expect?

Well, all the predicted pageantry and frankly strange outfits have turned out during the Pope's funeral. Meanwhile, half my X trend on the funeral is outrage that Trump wore a blue, not black, suit. TDS is apparently chronic and progressive.

Wearing blue to a funeral where everyone is wearing black is an embarrassment for our country, And Melania stepping on the rug where the coffin was. Everyone else avoided it as its considered holy ground.

All protocol says black, navy blue, dark grey--any dark color--is appropriate in a man's suit for a Catholic funeral, including one for a pope. Strict protocol suggests the suit coat should be buttoned as symbol that the departed has closed out/completed his earthly journey but most men no longer follow that tradition. Especially in an uncomfortably warm venue. I noted a number of men attending the funeral who were not wearing suit coats or ties at all.

But you know and I know, Trump can do everything absolutely perfectly with no glitches or legitimate issues of ANY kind to criticize or point out and the TDS afflicted left will condemn him for something anyway. He didn't smile enough. He smiled too much. He didn't lean the right way. He sat down too fast. He didn't sit down fast enough. Blah blah blah.

No. It’s not. Your claim is dumber than you are. And that fucking already tragic.

Donald Trump called out in front of millions at Pope's funeral in tribute to pontiff

Towards the end of his speech, Cardinal Giovanni Re, the dean of the College of Cardinals, said, “Pope Francis incessantly raised his voice, imploring peace and calling for reason and honest negotiation to find possible solutions ... ‘Build bridges, not walls,’ was an exhortation he repeated many times.”

This echoed Francis' criticism of Trump's plans to build a wall on the US-Mexico border during his first term in 2016.

Francis had called those plans "not Christian."

"A person who thinks only about building walls, wherever they may be, and not building bridges, is not Christian. This is not the gospel," the pontiff had said.

During his second term, Trump's strict border policies and sweeping immigration crackdown compelled the pope to write a letter to U.S. bishops in February, warning that the forceful removal of migrants deprives them of their inherent dignity and “will end badly.”

Interesting and hypocritical comment since Vatican City is surrounded by walls to keep undesirables out....
